Hello, this is my army list I've made in forever, and my first one for my Tyranids. I haven't really played Warhammer before, a couple of times a few years ago but I never really got into the game, just the painting. I'm trying to get into the game now, but I don't really know exactly what upgrades to get or what other models I need. I threw this together quickly, and I was hoping for an army that uses a lot of deep striking/outflanking with my ripper swarms, Trygon, and my genestealers.

HQ

Hive Tyrant 195 (Scything talons, heavy venom cannon)
Tyrant Guard x2 120

Troops

Genestealer brood x9(one broodlord) 186
Genestealer brood x9(one broodlord) 186
Genestealer brood x9(one broodlord) 186
Termagaunt brood x14 70
Termagaunt brood x14 70
Termagaunt brood x10 (devourers) 100
Hormagaunt brood x18 108
Ripper Swarm x 4 (tunnel swarm) 48
Warrior Brood x3 (venom cannon, two deathspitters) 120

Heavy Support

Carnifex (regeneration) 185
Carnifex (regeneration) 185
Trygon Prime 240

Points: 1999

Again, I don't really know if this is good or not, so any suggestions I was thinking of getting a Mawlock and a tervigon or two to replace some stuff but I wasn't sure.

Also, if this is in any way formatted wrong I'm sorry, again this is my first post.

List is illegal. You can only have up to six troop choices.

Ah, and this is why I made this lol I'll try and take a look at other lists maybe, but suggestions also really help ^^;

Well I guess overall you lack a significant amount of anti-vehicle capability (IE High Strength mid to long range shooting). More than many other armies, nids need to have enough shooting around to bust open transports.

Relying on CC to kill vehicles is generally fail. The small things can't do it well and the big monsters are easy to bait. In addition to that it leaves your units clustered up and perfect target for templates and blast markers as you can't consolidate. That and against transports the stuff inside is free to shoot you up in their own turn.

Most of your ranged anti-transport (AV10 - AV12 killers) are going to be: Hive Guard, TL Brainleech Devourers, Zoanthropes, Heavy Venom Cannons (usually on Harpies going this route), Tyrannofex with rupture cannons.

Shoot the vehicles open so your other forces can eat the squishy bits inside.

Looking at the specifics of what you have, Termagants are generally only useful if there are Tervigons around to buff them/spawn more. They just suck at killing stuff decently otherwise. Devilgaunts are a different story, though.

Too many genestealers. You only really need one squad, two at max.

Rippers just suck, drop them.

Warriors could use another body or two in the brood. T4 means that a lot of stuff out there can ID them.

Regen is too pricey for what it does IMO. If you have walking carnifexes, I'd suggest giving them TL-Devourers. Takes them too long to walk into CC otherwise and they'll get shot up pretty good. Exception is if you take a bunch of them (like two broods of two) then at least enough of them will survive.

You have no elites which is where the ranged AV units are - zoanthropes and hive guard.

3 stealer squads are nice, but 3 broodlords is a bit pricey. Also they work bettewr with toxin sacs. Maybe only go one broodlord and push them up to say 12 strong?

Basic termagants are for making tervigons troops, otherwise don't bother. Don't bother onthe ripper swarms either, you need the points elsewhere.

3 warriors is too small a brood as mentioned above. Make it 4 -5 or don't bother.

Basic hormagaunts are not effective without toxin and don't add much here when you have 3 stealers squads.

On the fexes, drop the regen and give them full devourer load-out instead.

Trygon needs AG.

Try to find 200 min for hive guard.

Ok, I've read a couple other army lists and more of the rules (and your advice) and I think I have a better understanding now.
I've reduced it to a 1,500 point army, and I hope this works better.

Hive tyrant heavy venom cannon, scything 195
Tervigon x1 catalyst, 175

Hive guard x2 100
Zoanthropes x2 120

Tyranid warriors x4- venom cannon, deathspitters and scything talons x3 150
Genestealer brood with broodlord x12 (11 genestealers, 1 broodlord) and toxin sacs 250
Termagaunts x10 devourers 100
Hormagaunts x 16, toxin sacs 128

Spore mines x3 30

Trygon prime, adrenal gland 250

Total: 1498

Is this any better? I put some more dakka into it, but took out the fexes. The spore mines I saw on another army list and thought they might be interesting, but I don't know how practical they are in a real match.
Figured the devilgaunts could take out infantry and get cover saves from the hormagaunts, the warriors can help with the shooting, Zoanthropes, hive guard and Tyrant take out the armor, genestealers and the prime outflank/deepstrike and take out as much as they can while the tervigon moves and spawns more gaunts.
