Subject: On the Care and Feeding of Boss Snikrot

Hey y'all, I'm a relatively veteran ork player who just picked up Boss Snikrot from my FLGS because he was a pretty model and I knew he was a fluffy enemy of the guard and most of my nemeses play the guard. Looking at his stats, I honestly can't tell if he's worth it or not, though I know many people swear by him. Looking at his stats, he's more expensive than a nob with a klaw and my main concern with him is simply put, he hasn't got a klaw. With my using the Kommandos thusfar I've mostly been running four with a Klaw nob, and sneaking them in a table edge to either go after an isolated vehicle or pop out and charge some artillery type unit or some other such unit that doesn't want to get into melee. I can see how he'd be more effective against infantry, but I want your advice. What's the best way to field him? How many kommandos in the mob? What weapons should I give 'em? What's the priority target?

Oh man there's all kind of different things you can do with Snikrot. You can attach Ghazghkull and just demolish anything around your opponent's table edge. You can attach Mad Doc Grotsnik with a full squad of kommandos and give them cybork bodies. You could also use just him and a few other kommandos to sneak up behind enemy armor. He's really could at making your opponent really think about his deployment because he knows Snikrot is going to come somewhere on his own table edge. I think Snikrot is good anti-infantry and anti-light armor.

Snikrot with a unit of Kommands can make a mess of IG. Being able to have 2 Burnas walk in on any table edge can really wreck IG units

Ahhh, so you specialize anti-infantry with him? Hmm. Yeah, that works.
Also, is it considered non-kosher to leave off the backpack? I just think he's a perfectly fine model without it, and it looks kinda crappy.

Hey it's your model you can do what you want with it. I love snikrot and my opponents despise him. I run him in a squad of 15 with 2 burnas and he always dominates. He comes on any table edge you want so nowhere is safe and it forces your opponent to deal with him and fire shots at him instead of firing at the rest of your horde that is charging at their lines. He can still take out tanks also since he is str6 on the charge and most back armour is 10. Just point him at whatever unit that your opponent treasures the most and slice and dice it. Burnas are great with him cause you can flame away or use them as power weapons against heavy troops.

Well you don't have to specialize in anti-infantry. You can take Rokkits and PKs with Kommandos instead, which work extremely well against those darn IG tanks since they tend to have really weak rear armor, you can actually penetrate with Rokkits on their rear But Ork BS sucks though, so Burnas tend to be taken instead.

Snikrot is still S6 on the charge and boyz can glance anything other than those rear AV11 leman russ variants, and those don't tend to hug the table border anyways. Keep in mind that most IG vehicles are out of the picture if you destroy one or two of their weapons.

Also Snikrot forces your opponent to move TOWARD you or spread out, making tactical decisions tougher and some tactics (like castling up) obsolete against him. Hes worth it for that alone!

3 words explain why you pay 85 points for him, and those 3 words "any table edge". he is much more intimidating and psychologically threatening to an opponent than mere scouts outflanking (which kommandos basically are without him.)
The fact that he charges with 6 attacks at WS5 S6 I4 and re-rolls to hit is just icing on the cake. Also, I personally never mind his not having a PK, as I just use the 2 burnas to help chew thru spess muhreens.

15 komandoes w/ cyborks and mad dok... its a pretty effective kombo urty syringe sometimes beats the dok's pk (thoguh only str 9 on charge vs warboss being str 10) and though fearless wounds suck you still stay fearless due to mad doc's rule until they are wiped
also you can do a warboss sneaking in with snikrot and have a str 10 pk in there ... though they are mroe likely to be wiped since 6+ armor is bad and the lose mob ruls quickley

A Warboss would still be ld9 with a reroll, so they are hard to get rid of by simple shooting.
Dedicated shooting will turn them all into spores waiting for the next Waaagh! to come by though.
Just make sure you took down enough stuff to make the lost HQ slot worth it before that happens.

Can any HQ be attached to Snikrot or only Special charcaters? I.E. can you attach a Warboss to a squad of Kommandos and still be able to outflank with them?

Anyone with the Independent Character rule can join his unit.
You can only Ambush in with Snikrot.
You couldn't pull the same trick with an outflanking regular Kommando unit, as Ambush isn't the same as Outflank.

Burnas are also usually taken as if you did not fire them in your shooting phase they are power weapons. So let lose against IG but against Space Marines use them as power weapons.
|
Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

I've never mathhammered it out but its done me pretty well thus far
