We played on 4 x 4 spaces just like last week. This time I had to play on a space made up of two 2x4 spaces. The terrain was laid down 'deep strike' style. We'd place a piece and then roll scatter die to see where it would ultimately turn up.
The point value for the game was 1200.
My opponent played as Eldar. Her list consisted of 3 units of Dire Avengers (2 with exarchs), a unit of Harlequins, a Wraithlord with a bright lance and missile launcher, a warwalker with 2 missile launchers, a pair of warwalkers with 2 scatter lasers each, and a farseer with fortune, doom, and guide.
My army was Tau, of course. My list consisted of 2 full units of Fire Warriors with stock devilfish, two 4 man stealthunit squads with targeting arrays and 1 fusion blaster each, a team of crisis suits with a fusion blaster and missile pod each as well as multi-trackers, a piranha with fusion blaster, a hammerhead with railgun and gun drones, and a commander with a sheild generator, missile pod, fusion blaster and multi-tracker.
Our deployment was spearhead with the game type being the one where we had d3+2 objectives. We ended up getting a total of five. It was kind of difficult to place the objectives since they had to be 12" apart and 12" from the table edges plus we were working with a 4' by 4' space.
My opponent was able to explode one of my devilfish on the first turn with the missile launcher on her wraithlord. From that I lost 4 Fire Warriors. Other than that she moved up her harlequins and a unit of dire avengers away from her and one other unit of avengers towards one of the objectives. The third unit of avengers sat on an objective.
My turn I disembarked my gun drones (I was going to use them to agitate objective holders). I also disembarked my Fire Warriors that still had a devilfish (I planned to walk them to the closes objective while the tank would provide some fire and/or tank shocking). The Piranha moved flat out to come to a stop in front of the Wraithlord and one of the war walkers. I don't think I did much shooting that turn. In fact my hammerhead had a hit but did no damage.
Turn 2, on my opponents turn, she moved up the harlequins and unit of avengers further away from her closer towards my Fire warriors that lost their devilfish. She had war walkers in reserve but they didn't come in yet. For shooting she managed to take out my hammerhead's railgun. The disruption pod I had on it did no good since I failed the save.
My turn I tried to tank shock the unit of dire avengers that were closer to my side of the table. The tank shock failed. I tried rapid firing into her harlequins but managed only 1 wound. My larger group of Fire Warriors moved closer to an objective. I moved my gunless hammerhead closer to her side of the board, towards a unit of dire avengers making their way to an objective (I was going to at least use the tank to tank shock if possible). The piranha plus its gun drones managed to wound the Wraithlord. It was thanks to the fusion blaster.
Turn 3, on my opponent's turn, she moved up the harlequins a bit closer to the Fire warriors that lost the devilfish. The dire avengers I had tried to tank shock positioned themselves for firing at it. The dire avengers opposite of those moved closer to an objective and the third unit of dire avengers sat on an objective. The Harlequins were able to shoot at the fire warriors and get into assault. The war walkers that had come in off reserve managed to come on the side of the table close to my other firewarriors and took out maybe 4 of them. The war walker with the missile launchers managed to destroy the weapon of my devilfish that tried to tank shock earlier. By the end of this turn I was down to only one troop barely able to get to an objective, and she had 2 objectives being held.
My turn I moved the Hammerhead in between the Warwalkers with the scatter lasers and my fire warriors. I moved up a couple gun drones to one unit of dire avengers. My Commander and Crisis suits which I had in reserve deep striked in front of the Wraithlord. I rapid fired into the harlequins only managing to take out 3 of them. I tried firing my Gun Drones at the dire avengers on her side of the board that were next to an objective but wasn't able to successfully wound any. The Commander and Crisis suits, with their missile pods and fusion blasters, did nothing to the Wraithlord. The Piranha, firing gun drones and fusion blaster into some dire avengers, did nothing.
Turn 4, on my opponent's turn, all three dire avenger units were holding objectives with one of them being contested by one of my devilfish. The harlequins moved closer to my remaining fire warriors and the war walkers with the scatter lasers moved in position to take the rear armor of my hammerhead. The harlequins ran up closer to the fire warriors and the war walkers' scatter lasers wrecked my hammerhead. Dire avengers on her side of the board fired into my Commander and Crisis suits and took down the crisis suits. The missile launchers from the war walker next to the wraithlord immobilized my devilfish that was contesting one objective. Assault saw my fire warriors being whittled down to 2 models by the harlequins.
My turn I moved nothing. My stealthsuits I had in reserve finally came in... sort of. The first unit scattered right off the board. The second unit didn't scatter. Firing proved fruitless. Gun drones into Dire Avengers... no wounds. Piranha and Gun Drones into Dire Avengers... no wounds. Stealthsuits into a different unit of dire avengers... no wounds. My commander on the Wraithlord... no wounds. We continued combat with the fire warriors and harlequins and I lost the rest of the unit.
Turn 5, on my opponent's turn, the dire avengers that were mostly stationary the whole game moved down from the tower where they were at, still close to the objective. The Harlequins moved closer to some gun drones. My stealthsuits got bladestormed into nothing. My Commander suit died to fire from another dire avenger unit. The harlequins moved even closer to my gun drones. Assault saw the gun drones being destroyed.
My turn I moved nothing. I fired my Piranha's fusion blaster and attached gun drones into a unit of dire avengers and maybe scored 1 wound. Another set of gun drones I had scored no wounds on another set of dire avengers... and that was it.
My opponent rolled to see if we were to continue. She rolled a one so we didn't continue.
In the end she held 3 objectives and I had none.
I'm not sure what was my undoing with this game. I think mostly me not going first killed me. Also maybe I could have been more aggressive and moved up closer before trying to fire anything. The lack of troups killed me too. I don't think it worked that I was having my fire warriors as both objective chasers and shooters. I probably should have dropped the devilfish or some of the stealthsuits to put another troop or two in the list.

Sorry for the crap pictures. I kept forgetting to take them. I need to wear my camera around my neck or something to remind myself to take more pictures.
