Greater Daemons are powerful, intelligent beings right? If they're not doing something in the Materium, what do they do in the Warp? Will Greater Daemons congerate to "hang out" or converse? What do they do with their spare time?

They sit around plotting, waging wars on rival daemons, writing autobiographies...

Either that or they only exist when the story needs them.

They spend a large portion of their time painting little plastic figures. They're mostly little men working at a desk, or in a factory, or working retail. The Daemons then get together occasionally to play a game where the little plastic men all try to earn enough money to support their families.

But, what they tend to do with the vast majority of their time is to sit around and debate all the little details about these little plastic men with other Daemons that they've never met over some sort of interconnected web.

Aw, we should summon some Greater Daemons then! We could help them out with this question and they could help us. Clearly there is much we can learn from each other.

In terms of models, Furies and Soul Grinders seem to be undivided.

In terms of fluff, Daemons comes in all sort of shapes and sizes and many of these are just Warp entities with no real allegiance. The cover of Codex: Chaos Daemons has many Daemons on it that don't fit any model in the game.

More interestingly, Slaves to Darkness contained rules for creating greater daemons, princes and champions unaffiliated to the four great powers.

Also remember that time in the warp flows differently than in reality. For all we know, the Greater Daemons could just go from one battle to the next. One is killed today, in 3 months a cult summons him again to fight, but it may have only been an instant for the Daemon.

Well if i remember correctly bloodthirsters are very territorial. I would imagine that all the thirsters are roaming the territory or khorne just killing tresspasers or each other if they bump into each other. I dont know if it actually says anything about the others

Soulgrinders have no allegience to the Chaos Gods, rather, they swear allegience to the Soulforges, it is part of the pact involved with becoming a Soulgrinder.

And Greater Daemons usually wage wars against eachother for their patron deity generally, though some have other activities they may do, Ku'gath for instance spends a lot of time trying to concoct the perfect plague that created him.

What do you mean? On Codex:CD I see a Soulgrinder, a Beast of Nurgle, Plaguebearers and Bloodletters. I don't see anything new.

I think the mistake is in assuming that daemons exist to mess with our world, and have to find some way to occupy themselves otherwise. It's really the opposite - the warp is the daemon realm, so naturally this is where they spend most of their time and where their main focus lies. Daemons spend most of their time fighting each other for power, for "territory", to dominate lesser warp entities, all to gain the notice and attention of a patron god. The gods command their daemon armies against one another (in a rather detached way), granting them boons of power in combat against their rivals or punishing them for failure. All this is what they mean by the Great Game - a never-ending battle in the warp, a constantly shifting balance of power between the four chaos gods, and this what occupies a daemon's time.

Coming to the material realm is rare and difficult, and is not the primary goal of daemons. They only do so when it is to their advantage, such as when a pathway of some kind has been opened for them so that they can easily enter to opportunistically steal souls or wreak havoc, thus enhancing their own power and/or gaining the favor of a greater being. Influencing the material realm is not their main aspiration; gaining an advantage in the Great Game is.

Hmm, seems a pretty good idea to make some sort of comic about the day-to-day life of a greater demon.

They wait, longing to go back to the Materium, until they are called to fight again. They long to be of flesh and do as they please, to wreak havoc, but while they are in the Warp they can do nothing but watch and wait and suffer

Shut up and
