Pike to shield ratio is off. I'd also consider dropping the troll for a banner and a caster.

So what should the Pike to Shield ratio be? I probably will get a banner and a caster for the troll though.

You want about 2 pikes per shield with maybe a few extra shields for flank protection. The thing I like about skirmish is that you can run actual formations and they really do work. So basic phalanx formation like this will work: (s shield, p pike)

SSSSS
PPPPP
PPPPP

or with flank guards:

_SSSSS
SPPPPPS
SPPPPPS

Running zerkers gets a little more complicated but you should hide them in the ranks kinda like this so they run through and get in combat when needed and have protection from shooting until then: (* indicates zerkers position)

S_S_S_S
P_P_P_P
P *P *P*P

Keeping them tucked back in between the second and third rank gives them enough in the way to keep them safe and close enough to charge.

Putting your captian and banner in should change the formation to something more like this: (C captain B banner)

__SSCSS
_SPPPPPS
SPPPBPPPS

This allows your to have stronger flanks and be able to shift pikes to where they're needed and allows the banner the greatest use while offering the best protection.

So two pikes per shield? I'll have a new list up soon.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

I second the 2-1 ratio of Pikes to Shields, although you will want extra shields to take the place of casualities.

I would drop the Troll for more dudes. the real key to winning is not to get swamped and with uruk-hai, due to their expense, you have to have a larger army before you can afford the loss of 10 models for a Troll(1 Troll=11 uruk-hai)

Uruk-hai actually play more like a Good army then an Evil one, in that they can expect to be outnumbered or at least equal.

If you run you guys up singly, you may find yourself having 1 Uruk fighting 2-3 enemy warriors plus spear support. Even with pike support, he is going to have a tough time with that and his higher then average defense will only go so far.

You need to keep a tight formation and only fight one on one(plus spear/pike support)

1 Uruk with 2 pikes supporting him will be very likely to beat off your typical good warrior with spear support and he has Str4 so he is very likely to wack them(assuming you arn't fighting Dwarves or a hero)

Anchor your battleline on some Terrain which will make it harder to flank you. preferably something that has to be climbed, but a forest will do(unless you are facing elves, in which case the trees are death)

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Staying on target.....

I haven't played LOTR in a long time but I'd include a shaman for sure, the promise of keeping an uruk hai alive and also annoying your opponents characters is too good not to have imho

I'd drop the crossbow for the captain as he can't use it and the shield
