does civilization 5 require steam or any other bull crap software to play, or can I just buy the disk and play?

Steam needs to run to play Civilization 5.
Before the inevitable whining comes, yes, you can play the game without an internet connection, and you only ever need to connect to Steam once to play the game (playing in offline mode every other time).

You may be able to install the game via disk, then register it on Steam to actually play.

i May be able to..? so what is the point of buying the disk if I cant just install and play? Automatically Appended Next Post: I mean its not the big of a deal, Ive just bin debeating weather or not to get Victoria II or Civ V, most likley gunna get Victoria II

I don't know because I got the game on Steam so I dunno how the disk handles. My DVD and DVD-RW drives don't work right now (they're rather old, at more than five years, older than the rest of my computer in fact).

Oh you bought the game on steam?, you know if you buy the game off steam, it doesent mean the game actually needs steam to run, buying games off steam just make more convieyent (Spelled wrong) for people who have problems like " Faulty DVD-( RW) drives . just because a game is sold on steam, doesent mean it take steam to run the game off a dissk, some games they do, but other dont.

The game uses steam achievements and steam cloud, that's what I based it requiring steam off of.

fare enough, I not saying your lieing or you are not right, I just confused on weather or not this game takes steam or not. I try my best to aviod steam, cause steam is just the stupidest designed system I've ever seen
