Don't take this the wrong want or that I am being an butt. May you please narrow down what you want for an 1500 or 1850 list since only $250 your pickings might be pretty narrow or someone can sell you a load of and tell you that it is competitive.

Questions about what you want:

what armies do you not want?
new or used models?
do you care is the models are 2nd, 3rd or current edition figures?
fully painted, primed or bare plastic or metal?


Please post these answers on your thread because most people will look at that and go, whatever. The list is only quarter of what makes up a competitive army, it is the person playing the army that makes or breaks a list.

Assuming 250 USD is your upper limit, I'd do thing following:

Research what army interests you the most.

Find others who have not only built an army of that type, but also seek out how much they had to spend to get to that point.

Finally, do some of your own research into the matter.

A competitive army of 1500-2000 ish points is not often sitting around for 250. Maybe more like 350-400 and a bit of patience.

Please follow Warone and my advice on this, it will save you a lot of money and heartache. $250 is a fire sale price for a competitive list from two or three years ago.

If I was starting out, I would find an army that interests me. Buy the codex first then some research on the net. Find what works and the common army tourny lists.

Then here is the big kicker, join an Escalation league just starting out. Buy the point value that they will be playing and only buy more after you have painted and based that point level.
