The Custodians are strong warriors and guards to the emperor,
have any Custodians ever gone on missions outside of Terra? (pre heresy or present day)

Well they occasionally leave the palace before Heresy, they always followed Emperor when he leave Terra. Now they are stuck on Terra and Guard the Imperial Throne, all 10.300 of them.
( to me that is a waste of good solders, they could really use them in crucial fighting's. Like Black Crusades are not much important for them to send at least 1000 Custodes ).

The custodians don't have the same bonds of brotherhood as the Astartes written into their genetics I don't think, I dont think it would change their effectiveness but it is sometimes vital on the battlefield.

are you kidding? They could hold key points by themselves, they are after all warriors, they could aid certain guard platoons a single astrates company could save an entire system. if 1,000 custodes were sent to the black crusade war it would save humanity and Abbaddon would have his best soldiers slaughtered.

The Custodes are not as effective at being soldiers as the Astartes are, they are not meant to be. They are more often sent in a very small group as assassins or spies, generally.

Thats what I mean they could hold choke points or they could scout, spy, or they could assassinate main leaders of the Chaos Legions which means they would become less organized and would start to crumble upon itself.

Wasn't talking about them killing Abaddon hell no. Most likely CREEEEEEEDDDDDDD will postion them in such a way that Abaddon's Chaos Lords all die 30 seconds later.
Plus they could get lucky. The Custodes could accidently destroy the ship holding a few chaos lords and a few other chaos marines.

They probably couldn't function as a kill-team either.
The Custodes are bodyguards. They may be the perfect bodyguards but they are bodyguards nonetheless and so they have a different set of thought processes and skill sets from an SM or even an IG squad. Both the IG and SM are trained to act as a cohesive unit. Custodes are not.

yes they have, in first heretic, a squad of 5 were sent to watch the wordbearers to see that they were doing what the emperor wanted from them. they all die in the end 1 is killed by cultists and the wordbearers on cadia and the other four were killed by the newly possessed csm's. We know practically nothing of what the Custodes have been up to for the last ten thousand years; arguing about it is rather futile.
For all we know they're busy maintaining and repairing the golden throne, or engaged in secretive plans to resurrect the Emperor (or determine his successor).
Unless the design studio or Black Library decide there's an interesting story to be told, however, we'll never know.

anyway the custodians after the heresy have not left terra. They have sworn to watch over the emperor till the imperium falls down around them.

That is harder than it sounds though.
Forgetting the fact that it wouldn't be allowed by a variety of people you face the problem of managing to train and equip 10,000 marines without interruption.
Also they wouldn't be able to entirely defeat chaos. They would put a significant dent into whatever they hit but they wouldn't be a coup de grace as it were.

No, 10,000 Exorcists could not defeat the Traitor Legions, let alone the Daemonic and Cultist forces arrayed alongside them. Don't forget, Abaddon is an extremely competent commander, and holds favour with all four major Chaos Gods. That many Astartes would, however, greatly aid in the defence of Cadia.
I think that the Custodes would greatly aid the defence of Cadia, not just because of their prowess and specific training (which might not help them a great deal in a conventional open battle, but could aid in numerous other situations), but because of the equipment that they possess (invisible Custdoes would be pretty helpful in taking down leaders (and pretty much anyone to be fair), although I'm not sure how difficult they are to detect (Psykers especially would likely be capable of detecting them and the same for at least some Daemons).

Ah, I forgot that the Imperium is a pushover and no threat to anyone. My mistake.
As pointed out, not all Black Crusades by Abaddon were to break the Cadian Gate (such as the during the Gothic War (I think).
Why is it that people think that Abaddon is a terrible commander because the currently most powerful single faction keeps him at bay? Damn, the Tyranids and C'tan mustn't be threats at all, because they continually get beaten.

That is true black crusade can go with any force leaving the eye of terror. It's just normally associated with abbaddon lol
Hang on most of Abbaddons crusades did leave the eye of terror, one of them even found another route around the cadian gate into the gothic area of space. the 13th one has even given him a foothold on cadia from which the imperium can't shift him. I heard old rumors that in the next edition the area around the eye of terror will be fully in Chaos hands while the Imperial cordon is strengthened to prevent them from expanding further but the imperium themselves can't push them back into the eye as they have trouble elsewhere (have to say it is better then other rumors for sixth edition lol)

So much wrong in this statement.
1. Exorcists are quite difficult to create, since the possession and exorcism process is extremely risky.
2. 10,000 Astartes would help the Cadian situation, but they couldn't exactly go into the Eye of Terror to start killing the Traitor Legions.
3. Even if they could do the above, you can't "beat" Chaos.

Ever since the Big-E has been stuck on the Throne they haven't left his side, they accompanied the Emperor on his campaigns in the Great Crusade though.
For the last 10,000 years they haven't left Terra, probably not even the Imperial Palace complex. Its probably effected their combat capacity due to a lack of experience.

Are custodes immortal or more long lived than space marines? since they were designed differently by the emperor or do they recruit and replenish their ranks over time?

So all the inqusition has to do is train 10,000 Exorcists marines and they beat chaos what idiots.
Yes because it isn't like he hasn't tried to i don't know go into the eye of terror 13 times.
He's been out of the Eye plenty of times. The Cadian Gate is simply the only way to move all the forces of Chaos, relying on sporadic trips through Warp Storms is futile. In any case, not all 13 Black Crusades had the single purpose of breaching the Cadian Gate. Ever read Soul Hunter? Abaddon himself says as much, as does his adviser Ruven. He has undertaken a 10,000 year campaign, each Crusade being a stepping stone on his way to taking Cadia, a goal he is very close to achieving.

And hey, time flows differently in the Warp, so what's 10,000 years for the Imperium might only be a few decades for the Chaos marines. They're trying their best, it's just the stupid time warp keeps giving time for the Imperium to recover. Probably a Chaos God thing because they enjoy watching the little ants struggle.
