*** Let me know if this is the wrong section for this ***

Hey all. I'm starting to get into orks and need help on what to buy for a good starter 1000pt army. I got the AoBR stuff off someone for dirt cheap so thats a start. Any help/suggestions/lists would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ok so ya have AoBR which is a great start!

From there the rule of thumb for orkz is more boyz... at least 2 boxes, that'll get ya 20 more boys & 2 nobz. Though you'll want many more as time passes.
After that perhaps a couple of Trukkz, 2 or 3 squads of lootas, and a herd of gretchin!
This would easily get ya on your way but when thinking orkz, you'll have to choose which way ya wanna go!

Green Tide, Kan Wall, Speed Freaks, Trukk/Wagon Spam, are among the builds one can make with the orkz. Search around Dakka to find some army lists & decide for yourself how ya wish your Waaagh to progress.

Just my 2 teef on the matter... enjoy your Waaagh & keep me posted!

My first investment after AOBR would be more boys, as said above.

Then two units that I would advise. Units of five lootas and big meks with Kustom Force Field.

Although when you do get more units it is said that you should try to get units of roughly the same speed. Also try stick to the same unit repeated, although that is nowhere near as important.

I think the key with orks is the need loads of something to work. At 1000 pts you can only fit in loads of boyz, you can not fit in kanspam, battlewagonspam or trukkspam. So more boyz is needed. Either buy another AoBR boyz as they are cheap or go for the battleforce.

Buy some nobz you should convert your current nobs into wound allocation nightmares and give yourself some nobz to lead boyz.

If you have lots of squads looking like 29 boyz with nob with PK then you will not go far wrong at 1000pts. Taking no trukks and Battlewagons just yet, Later you may need loads of trukks so the Battleforce is probably a good investment.

Do not buy Flashgitz apart from that anything can work.

Battleforce = bad.

Unless you scrap the bikers and go with trukkspam. But in most people opinion, trukks are a bit rubbish. They die way too easily, so you will need a LOT.

Nob bikers and even normal bikers have their place. Trukks are fast though yes you need many to work but what in the codex doesn't?
Then the boyz are needed and look different to the AoBR boyz.

The battleforce doesn't save as much money as for other armies but the stuff is all useful which makes it one of the best.
