I'm new to the W.H.40K universe. I don't get into the gaming aspect, but I read the books. I'm almost complete with the Horus Heresy series, I'm on Nemises. Anyways, I stumbled across the death of the emperor thread, and wanted to comment.........The emperor has finally gotten what he asked for. He was a tyrant not all that different than the ones he destroyed during the unification. His dogma, and arrogance has forced humanity into it's current situation. The sucklings of the emperium will not be able to adjust to being denied the "teet" of the theocratic heresy of the current empirium. The arrogance showed by the emperor during the great crusade has turned humanity into just another version of the eldar, and as such the imperium will eventually be overwhelmed by the corrupt dogma ,and die. I like the 40K books a lot,but find that the oppressive imperial society would really suck to live in. Of all the authors I've read, I have to say I like Grahm McNeil the most. The legion I'm most partial to would have to be the Thousand Sons. Id like to see them get the justice they deserve by finally crushing the whelps of leman russ into dust, and Magnus with a staff topped with the skull of leman russ laying his headless, maggot infested corps on the ground before the golden throne, then impaling constantene valdor's body to it.

Okay... Welcome to Dakka.
The Imperium isn't what the Emperor wanted.
It's the opposite. Life in an Imperium with a full Emperor would likely have been fairly good.
Incidentally if you have read most of the HH series you'll know that Magnus had a hand in his own downfall and Horus was ultimately to blame. Frankly Russ had no reason not to think Horus was above board.

The emporer wouldve been a good emporer had the Imperium turned out like he wished. You also have to understand that before this there was a long period of chaos until the Emporer stood up and unified everyone.
At times he can be quite evil, but not as evil as you think.
Also, it was Magnus' fault he got into this mess. Had he headed the emporers words about using sorcery, he wouldve never been used by tzeetch and brought down the long road into chaos.

So much horrible grammar/spelling/everything in this thread, it gave me a headache. I will refrain from commenting on any of the drivel therein. Good day and carry on with your nonsense.

Sorry, ipad is a bit hard to type with, so at times my spelling can be pretty off.

The Emperor isn't to blame for the Imperium's current situation - his successors are. If the Emperor is in charge Humans would probably live like they lived in Golden Age of Humanity.
Magnus tried to help, but in a wrong way and almost doom Terra by opening a Warp rift there. OF course the Emperor would send Russ after him.
And in the end it was Horus that planed for several of the Legions to turn against Emperor.

For Emperor and Imperium!!!!

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

Golden Age? The Emperor was a tyrant. Anyone deviating in the slightest from his ideal would be dealt with harshly, psykers would still be pressed into service or killed. The 40K universe isn't nice. The Devil is real, except there are four of them. Necessity demands severity.

And it was the Word Bearers who orchestrated the corruption of the other Legions (including the Sons of Horus) via the lodges. Horus was shown a vision of the future where he didn't have statues dedicated to him, so he decided to rebel.

Yea the Imperium is almost a polar opposite of what the Emperor intended. He wanted a futuristic America! Only without all the corruption, and greed!

And he told Lorgar to quit with the worshipping, and is one of the main reasons he went all Chaos-y, yet now EVERYONE is worshipping, even using the book Lorgar WROTE.

Best irony ever.

He wanted to create a state based on science and understanding and instead created a hellish totalitarian theocracy where life is cheap and few understand the technology they wield and the whole thing is slowly crumbling under a wave of implacable and inhuman enemies bent on total destruction or complete enslavement.
That's a b*tch for irony...

It's not really xenophobia...
They have a fairly good reason to hate them...

He has good reason to. The eldar created slaanesh, and the tau tried to take over parts of the imperium.
Neither of them pose much of a threat to the imperium anyways; theyre both small, and the eldar care more about preserving the universe now than they do about conquering the galaxy.

Well, he wasn't really a prick to the Tau, since the Tau weren't around then.
