I need a break from the 40k stuff i have been working on so...

So, i was going through my closet a week ago and came across a rather large glob of figures. I had purchased a whole Warriors of Chaos army, mostly off ebay, a couple years ago but it has sat in the closet gathering dust. I kind of want to play a game with them. Since i got them cheap and am not overly concerned about the figures i have decided to try to go for speed over quality, at least to start. I will still put work into the character figs, but I want to get a core army painted up in the next couple weeks.

So here is waht I have and my progress thus far

This is everything


3 boxes of Chaos knights (2 old metal style) plus 5 almost finished knights
2 boxes of mounted marauders (1 old)
About 60 Warriors of Chaos (15 finished) - I got these already assemebled of ebay. I want to get some more to make some Halberd Warriors
1 Hellcannon
16 Marauders - I need to get a bunch more of these
A bunch of Hero figs

Here's my mounted knights who say Ni. I painted them yesterday. Pretty quicky paintjob. I will prolly take the time on future Knights now that I have some done

Here are some heroes I don't plan on using. I prefer human looking figs so I dont like the bird head. I may ise the nurgle guy if I fix him up a bit to look more 'normal'

Hopefull Ill be able to crank out enough to play a game with in the next few weeks. I have the army book but I don't have the rules to (or even know how to play) WHFB so I have been mostly looking at army lists posted on web froums to decide what to build. I Think I am going to need more marauders, Warriors w/ halberds and some hounds. I don't like the actual chaos hounds figs but I have found some fairly cheap wolf rider wolfs on ebay so I will prolly use those instead.

So that's what I have got for now. Any input, anything from army list building to painting and so on, would be greatly appreciated.

I got sidetracked today and completed much less painting than I had hoped to. Only got six more marauders done so unit is still in progress. I did make some minor conversions to a couple of champ figs

I need a name that sounds like a fat guy for this one.

I took of the ridiculous giant shoulder spike but made the weapon even more ridiculous than it was.


I always thought this guy's armor looked a bit skimpy so he is gonna be a marauder champ



I also found some figs that I want to use for sorceresses.

If i can get this fig off its base without ruining her feet I'll prolly put her on the disc


another one. I think she is a dancer, but If i can add a staff or something I think she'll make a fine sorceress

I am gonna have to learn how to do pinning because that banner is a monster!


So not a lot today. maybe a small update tomorrw but prolly not much til next weekend.

Hardly finished anything. I have started too many things at once.


Got this mount just about done


Started on the Lord. I hate the mutated arm so i gave him a normal arm and shield. Also not too fond of the helmet he comes with so I gave him the standard Fantasy Viking looking helmet from the warriors box.





here is where I need help. Not sure about the flame. At first I thought all the recesses should be brightest, as that is where the flame would be hotter, but a lot of paintjobs I have seen seem to shade the recesses like anything else and that looks fine. I haven't decided.




My first box worth of maurauders is done svae for baseing. They were quicky and dipped in Army Painter. Fair table minis I think

I definately like how you painted the patterns on the shields. It makes me want to repaint the marauders shields I have clasped around my Space Wolf rhinos.

King Harad traveled the world in his youth, selling his sword to the highest bidder and ammassing the treasure that allowed him to carve out his small northern kingdom. The influences of his travels are evident in the name he chose for his son, Karl.

I finally got a set of the 8th edition rules. A few more mauraders, finish my sorcerer, maybe some hounds and i will have about enough ready to actually play a game!

Here is my fist batch of chaos hounds.

Hallerna bears the title 'Mistress of the Hounds'. She cares for and trains the war dogs used by the Redmane clan. Rarely can she bee seen without an accompaniment of these savage beasts and their fierce loyalty to her, in addition to her own martial prowess, has made her feared within her own clan.


The mutational effects of the dark gods seem less apparent on Redmane hounds than those used by other Chaos clans. Some say this means they lack the blessing of the gods. Hallerna insists this proves her hounds are the strongest since they are as fearsome as any other hound of chaos but do not require the help of the gods to be so.

Here is my painted army as it is, but I need to finish bases still... Ah, basing, perhaps my least favorite part of modelling.

So, not a ton of painting as of late other than the hounds. It took me forever to put all those dang Maruaders together.

Thorfinn Redmane is the younger of Harad's two scions. He carries the clan banner to war like his older brother before him. Though it is considered an honor to carry the clan banner, Thorfinn longs for the day he can pass it on. To him it is an encumbrance that prevents him from dashing headlong into the foe. Jealousy burns in Thorfinn's heart whenever he sees his brother Karl gaining honor in battle. It is uncertain whether this jealousy will drive him to mighty deeds or to treachery.
