So, I have come across a confounding cunundrum; League of Legends/DOTA 2.

I am having fun playing League. Enough fun that I kind of want to buy some skins/champs and stuff. But the problem is, when DOTA 2 comes out... that's a $50 game, more than likely. So... I can either pay $50 for a game I possibly don't like, or pay $50 for skins and stuff on a game I will possibly get tired of and want to try DOTA 2....

Any hope of a free trial coming out that they will hand out to people, you thinks?

I think this thread will turn into a LoL/DOTA 2 hate thread for both games,

but I have to say DOTA 2 because I never played LoL, but I have played DOTA.

You shouldn't be spending money on LoL use your ip to get runes, champs and and rune pages. Skins are a waste of money cause they don't effect the game.

But some of the skins are awesome!

But then you can use that money you saved for other games or even a boat.

A Boat? For $50? Good Day, sir!

True, I suppose. Though the skins are so cool!

You also use it to get more rune pages, though to get everything you need in game it should cost about $20. Brings the rune pages up to full and nothing else you can buy effects the game.

That being said I have 9 skins (including all the Sona and Teemo ones that count (no badger or recon ever)) and 5 rune pages.

I don't understand the question..

DotA offcourse. No paying for characters non-sense.

LoL, you can get every character it just will take a while and gives you something to work towards getting exp and spending points on.

Dota is full of dirtbags, LoL generally is not

Both games have very poor communities.

DOTA 2 doesnt look that great, and i dont know how often its updated (new champ ever 2 weeks?)

Also is Dota keeping the carries that can 1v5 the entire team when fed ?

Watch some dota 2 vids, should be alot around from there last tourney, i myself couldnt stand to watch them longer then 10min.

or.. play LoL for free. wait till dota 2 comes out and watch more vids and see some reviews.

Both games aren't bad options.

I don't know man, maybe it's matchmaking for new players, but i've only had one dirtbag griefer and minimal jerks in like 30-50 LoL games.

Not a rare for me, though not extremely common either. In general the community seems alright (if a little slow at times, a lot of times some days...) but like most communities there are the minority who feel they need to convince you how "great" they are.

As a team game it only really takes one idiot to wreck a game. But if the rest of the team is good enough you still have a chance if you play carefully.

In the level 30 que.. there is always somone who talks crap, trolls or feeds after they die a couple times.. in id say.. 5/10 games.

Them feeding could be just them as terrible players in some games but i dont see how somone can go 2/15 on accident.

Not to mention every fourth game has someone throwing around the N word, or generally being very dickish.

Its like this.
Dota is the competitive and fast paced one. LoL is the passive farm fest
LoL's no penalty on dying means that carries can play like crap and still farm up to be effective.
LoL has very few active items, all passive stuff. The few actives are generally not worth the effort.
Lol has no denying, which takes out the interesting factor of effective lane controlling. It can still be done, there's just less skill involved

Heroes abilities rarely synergise with their actual role, although they seem to be improving on this with characters like Talon whose abilities all work together rather than being stand alone stuff

The pros for LoL though is that it means you don't need some ungodly skill to enter games, its a game designed for people new to the whole Dota thing, although that hampers its competitive environment significantly.

I know my own brother remarked on that the first time he played, that LoL was more fun because it wasn't so hard. Hes only ever played one game of Dota as well.

Honestly , even after all that I'd say LoL. Dota's community and skill level makes playing it now absolutely soul crushing because you will suck and trust me when I say it takes months to get anywhere near a average level. You will feel like crap every game you play until you get better.

LoL's community isn't much better, but since the skill level is so low and the game is easy to learn you will have more fun
