No, this isn't a gripe against space marine, but it's a few things I've noticed...

- marines all seem to hate guard.
- can't smash an opponent with the back of a boltgun.
where do I keep my clips?
Why can't I crouch

also, I thought that it was interesting that the lieutennant is a woman. does anyone else think that it might have something to do with the want of some 40k gamers to have female guard? I'm not trying to say something smart or anything, I just think it's a possibility.

Finally, I'd much prefer to just be a space marine in a squad, rather than a captain. is that just me? I like being a rank and file member of the army in games.

Never mind how they crouch, but how they breathe with a rib cage fused into a plate of bone.

Also the power armour has compartments in the legs that hold some extra clips if I remember correctly.

That's not really true...

Avitus' views in DoW2 for example were notable because they were pretty extreme. Titus gives Guardsmen plenty of respect.

Most boltguns don't have stocks.

It's better not to know.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

So what? You can pistol whip with the loading compartment on a pistol. You can smash a man with the little bit of space behind the hand grip.

they are cowardly and inferior but necessary

can't smash an opponent with the back of a boltgun.
why would you damage your gun when you have a chainsword at the ready

where do I keep my clips?

Why can't I crouch
Why are you a coward that needs to take cover?

Why would it get damaged? An orks head isn't that hard. And a spehs marheen is meant to be big and strung.

I don't take kindly to you're rudeness. You might notice I live in a country where you get a four-hundred dollar fine for bringing a Bb gun into the country.

You are an idiot if you don't take cover. You'd find hat ultramarines aren't cowards, and they follow codex. Since cannon with codex would suggest that you do in fact take cover, it makes sense that you would keep cover.

I think they prefer straight out punching someone rather than using their guns as a mace

And regarding their Views on IG, i think it differs from Marine to marine or chapter to chapter

How do you know that exactly?

Then the number of fictional creatures you have experience riflebutting to death is rather low I would think.

Space marines are an eight foot tall superhuman religeous zealots wearing the armor of a light tank that can take the punishment of a dozen men without going down. reducing mobility to hide behind the equivilent of wet drywall is not in canon.

And besides, you can kind of take cover without crouching. I've only played single player so far due to PS3 SM network problems ( ), but I've noticed that some aptly placed rock piles can be used as cover even if you're just standing.

And who needs to crouch when you can roll? (haha, fail joke).

As for the bolter bashing question, I believe the chainsword answer if very appropriate.

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Its because they know that marines are more awesomez.

can't smash an opponent with the back of a boltgun.

You have a giant knife. What do you think works better?

Besides, we haven't been able to bash people with guns in games for years.

where do I keep my clips?

You conjure them with pure awesomeness obviously.

Why can't I crouch

Marines are walking tanks who need not use 'tactics.' That's heresy against the emperor!

In this particular case, I think that Relic decided to ignore some fluff here and there. Honestly though the lack of cover keeps the action moving forward in MP. I've concluded that it works better.

On a boat, Trying not to die.

Do you want to know why Space Marines wouldn't take cover from fire?

It's quite simple, really. When one is getting shot at by .75 caliber explosive rounds, cover isn't really going to help you. And that's just the standard bolt pistol. When you make it even more powered (Stalker), fire 1.00 caliber rounds at high velocity and speed (Heavy Bolter), make it a small and agile Assault Rifle variant (Bolter) or make it two bolters tied together (Storm Bolter), then cover becomes an obstacle rather than a necessity.

And don't get me started on the energy weapons.

You have to take cover plenty of times later in the game if you're playing on Hard, you just don't snap to it or crouch behind it.

The female guardsmen could be for diversity's sake.

Ya know, diversity.

Maybe you hang out with immature women. Maybe you're attracted to immature women because you think they'll let you shpadoink them.

You have modile cover, thats the point. Thats what makes this game different from gears. Thats what makes this game unique. Take that out and you lose one of the main ideas of the game.
I dont see why you need to hit soeone with the back of your gun when you have both combat knife and chainsword. It makes much more sense to use either of those.
As for the difference between clip and mag, its an extremely common mistake (one i myself used to make) however a mistake none the less. Its not like he said this is the difference between a clip and a mag jackass, get it right. He just just corrected your error.
Crouching, i dont dont see much of a point to, however i woudnt mind if they put it in. There are some points where i wish i could croutch, but for the most part it isnt that big of a deal.
