Hello, I'm in somewhat of a predicament right now. I have a tournament coming up at my FLGS this Saturday at 1750 points. I have my competitive Grey Knight list that i really haven't learned how to use completely to its full extent or my old and solid Ork army that I have been playing for almost 2 years. I don't know which one to play in this tournament. I really want to win too, so I need help deciding.

Here is my GK list

The grey knights have more transport popping potential and MSU is really strong right now.

If you want to win take the GK, no contest.

As well as being a stronger army overall, your GK list is far more optimised than your ork one.

Have a look at jy2's bat reps with his purifier build (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/386276.page), especially how he uses crowe.

Dark Eldar: 3k
Space Wolves : 1k
Orks: 2.5k
Necrons: Vassal

Fafnir on the topic of marbo "All I know is that when he manages to kill 500 points on his own in one game, I get a rush that is not unlike that of injecting heroin directly into the folds of my scrotum."

Go with the GK. Your chances of winning are better with the orks because a well played semi competitive ork list is deadlier than a poorly played highly competitive GK list. The problem with the list will most likely be operator error, but you're going to need the experience with your list. The only way to gain valuable experience is to play tough players; there is only such much a player can gain by playing the same regular group of people at the FLGS.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Considering that you aren't completely comfortable with the GK's yet, you're better off with Orks.

This.

You're always better off playing the army you know best at tournaments, until you really have the other army down.

If you don't know the new army inside and out you'll miss stuff/misinterpret rules (we all have at some point) / forget to use rules then kick yourself for it.

I'd get a few more games in with the Boys in Grey before using them in a tournament.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts
