Am I reading the codex right for Warphead? I can roll for his power twice and pick which one I want to use?

Here's the relevant part of warphead's rule:
...may re-roll the dice to see which psychic power he uses."

I plan on using Zogwort at a friendly game tomorrow...

Thanks!

When you reroll to see what power you get you have to go by the second result. Now if it said you roll 2 dice and choose then you would get to pick which one you wanted. As it is if you decide to take your chance on a reroll you take what comes up.

Deathbringers 5500
"we are the defenders of humanity, we are the bringers of death."
Waaaghallans 4000
"We dont fight fer food, or fer teef, or guns, or cos we's told ta fight. We fight cos we woz born ta fight. And win."
Kabal of the Bleeding Shadows 1500
"Fear not the darkness. Fear that which the darkness hides."

That's what I initally thought... but, I'm stuck on this phrase:
"to see which psychic power he uses."

This seems to imply that I could choose the 1st or 2nd roll.

Or... am I being dense here??

Your reroll is also on the random table. You reroll to see which (of those random powers) you're using.

I think I'm reading into this... doesn't the brb state that whenever you "re-roll" a roll, the previous roll is ignored?

Pretty much, unless the rule says otherwise

I think you might be reading too much into it.

I could be wrong though, but i've yet to see a TO that would let me pick

Thanks for setting me straight, I believe you're right.

Wouldn't it be nice to "choose" the STR10 lance every turn! That'd be a reason to take a warphead in every list! lol

The thing is when you are rolling with a normal wierdboy; you are rolling to see which power is used.

Codex Quote for backup; Orks, page 37, first paragraph: "Wierdboys cannot control their psychic powers, At the beginning of each Ork Shooting Phase, a Wierdboy must roll on the following table to find out which psychic power he must use that turn."

As you can see, there is no choice with the Warphead, the same wording is used for the initial roll; and that wording has the word "which" referencing the numeric result for the power.

Now on to er-rolls in the BRB(page 2, box-out, third sentence): "The second score counts, even if it means a worse result than the first, and no single dice can be re-rolled more than once regardless of the source of the re-roll."

The dice tell you which power you use, the rer-oll is a re-roll to those dice.

Also, the warphead re-roll is entirely voluntary; if your first roll is Zzap(and Zzap was the roll you wanted), then why would you re-roll it at all?

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

And remember it's not a S10 Lance. It's a S10 MELTA, with a 36" range, that hits automatically!

Righto!

Played a game last night and good ol' Zoggie actually cracked a LR from that power!

It was something to behold!

Now... I need to pop my cherry and turn an IC into a squiggie!
