I am making an Adeptus Mechanicus force and have been for a year now. It is and has been modeled to be necrons (though I used a few as deamons before).
I have:
1 techpriest (2 WIP)/Necron lords
2 tech marines/??
30 skitarii/Necron Warriors
20 Combat Servitors/Flayed Ones
2 Secutors/C'tan?
2 Grav Rhino
7 Servoskull swarms (scarabs)
20 possible spec op stormtroopers/immortals?
and the bits to produce my variant of wraiths

I now want a Monolith! one or two would be sufficient but i ask you, Fellow Dakkaites for help!!
I have seen the bottom of the monolith and its slightly smaller than the base of the Bastion scenery sets. I would love to base the monolith off of that as a "grav fortress" type thing but i feel like that might be way too tall, and taking the middle of the bastion out coulld possibly be far two small. Does anyone know the height of the monolith and could anyone give some ideas? EH EH?

Have you considered GK henchmen, or Imperial Guard instead?

yeah... i know the GK thing and all that blah blah blah blah but i hate it, sorry. Admech could easily be "count as" for many armies. I choose necron because A:they have always interested me gamestyle wise, B: have a close connectiion to crons and B: are non astartes xenos codex.


Mainly though, its because they are probably the next codex.

Playing Necron models with a Necron Codex is okay. Even if you call them Admech, Orks or My Little Pony.

Yeah... i know

but in this case i have modeled and continue to model conversions based on a non codex army in 40k lore. All im asking from people is ideas on what I could use for a monolith, aside from a monolith, or a my little pony.

a monolith, thats tricky but some kind of bit floating tower would be cool. seeing as I do admech too and will probbibly be using them as crons for the new dex I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with

OH IDEA!! bastion without the top part, and maybe turrets on top with skull node things manning them? and idk what would be in the middle, but with the monolith bottom. Idk what i'd do for a flux arc. it would be way tall but w.e

the way I see it alex, is a monolith isn't very admechy
for my admech stand in models I make a base that is the same footprint as the model, and then just try and make it as awesome as possible, the above land raider being an exception since it is way bigger than it should be (but i had the parts! )

your monolith could be anything you want, just stick treads on it, but IMHO a bastion doesn't admech it up to 11 like I would do

I don't dislike the idea of Admech making a floating fortress which counts-as a Monolith ruleswise - seems fluffy enough.

A standard Bastion would be too large (presuming you play serious games and care about LoS rules), but if you're handy with a razor saw, i reckon you could trim a Bastion down to Monolith size. It'd need to be covered in fancy forcefield generators to justify the counts-as Monolith armour, but that shouldn't be hard. Hmm, moving the weapon mounts to the corners will be a bit of work though, depending on how you model the weapons.

Read Dark apostle, I found it interesting how totally over the top admech were in technology. the ordinatus machines for example are slow as hell and seem weak as feth. but little did the chaos forces know how powerful the machine was or the destructive capabilities of a magi in close combat ahaha.

that being said I know admech have a facination with grav technology, whose to say that a rouge (yes my admech are rouge, not renegade but rouge) magos went on a trip with xenos technology and decided to preplicate grav technology on a large gun platform? that's my justification with the monolithic structure.

I was thinking some old style antenna on the top of it representing the big gun and corner (or leaving it to the HB sides) will have automated or servitor run 50's style ray gun batteries maybe. i also don't know how much bigger a bastion is to a monolith.

I happen to have a lith base in my bits box and just compared it to a bastion, and to my surprise, they're a pretty close match. Not sure about height though, as I don't have any lith side bits - but you can bulk out the top with aerials and weapons etc to make it whatever required height.
