I am talking about vanilla marines tanks. The none transport ones.
To me Predators and Vindicators are pretty top notch but I can't decide which is better, the extra fire power of the Pred. or the ignoring terrain shield of the Vindi.
The Whirlwind looks to be the worst IMO. Its guns are not as strong as the other tanks and it can't hit things that get to close to it.
So, back to my question, which is best for my marines? Vindicator, Predator or Whirlwind.

IMO the best tank in Vanilla is the Rhino.
However out of the three you've listed I give it up to the Pred. Typically the Auto/Las Sponson Load out

I would have to give it to a pair of vindicators. the str 10 ap 2 large blast pulvarizes terminators and other vehicles. its the inly reliable way to kill a monolith, and they can take out any mass hordes with minimal effort.
predators, specifically triple las preds, are good for tank hunting but once the tanks are gone there is no role for them. krak missiles should take care of transports and vindies are capable of dealing with both AV 13/14 and groups of hordes and unifs of high toughness high armored opponents.
I give my vote to vindicators.

Don't forget that a whirlwind can direct fire. It can fire as ordnance barrage or ordnance.
As for my vote. It depends on your play style. A vindicator does well with an in your face kind of approach. The predator is more suited to a gun line style set back and provide fire support. Also the most cost effective predator is the auto/las. Or if you prefer the "combi-predator".

It's hard to beat HB preds. They're basically the cheapest battle tank there is, and for all those 85pts they get a rhino chassis with AV13, three guns and smoke. They can do horde control, screening, blocking and they tear down light vehicles quite alright.
It's not a popular opinion but I hold that whirlwinds are pretty great. Their guns aren't as strong, but being barrage and ignoring cover, they are death to bunched light infantry wherever they want to hide. If you think you've got enough bolters and flamers and stuff to handle infantry completely then don't take a whirlwind, but if you're going up against mechanized orks, guard, DE or even eldar, it's going to be useful, simple as. I say mechanized because lists with foot as their default means of transportation are generally harder to catch bunched up. Depends on your opponent of course.
In games above 1500, the HS slot becomes a bit too valuable to justify, but whirlwinds are far from "the worst". Against light infantry, they're basically vindicators with twice the range, barrage and no cover. They get gak done, whereas a vindicator is a more complicated tool. It's good at hijacking threat, area denial and obviously killing expensive stuff.
Edit: I guess it wasn't clear but I vote dakka preds. Also, if you want us to tell you which is the best "for your army" then it may help for us to know what your army looks like. And I didn't write gak.

Mostly I just wanted some input on what people think of them. So far I'm thinking if I'm taking only one I'll go with Pred. if I;m getting two I'll use Vind. so far still no need for a whirlwind
