You are "chosen". Whether it is because you were pre-ordained to become one (all fates are intertwined) or believe that you have chosen that path yourself. The Harlequins come and choose you. You do their trials. If you survive, you become one. You are no longer Craftworlder, outcast or Dark Eldar, but Harlequin. The best background source is the article on them in WD95 and the army list in WD96. Failing that, seek out the RT 40k compendium (red book) which reprinted those articles. It can be found at the usual document hiding places on the net as well as ebay.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

1. Have a punny name like Harley Quinn.
2. Meet the Joker.
3. Fall for him and go crazy.
There you are, the sreps to become a harlequin...
I always thought they where chosen by the laughing god.

One step of the process involves voluntary daemonic possession. You either beat it, and become a harlequin. Get consumed, and promptly killed. Or "other", and become a Solitaire.
|
"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life. |

There is no evidence any of the above is true. Every time someone brings it up nobody has been able to cite and quote evidence for it. It is just one of those pieces of misremembered fluff or fan fiction that gets repeated as if it were true.

Yes, well, look what the Internet did to the Void Dragon.
If you're wondering what that was, it used to just be the Dragon.

Ok, thanks alot. Can you voluntarily become one, or do you have to be chosen by Cegorash and beat the trial?
