Do these two sculpts have compatible torsos? I got Dryad legs
to attach to a daemonette torso, would I have a problem with gaps or misfits?

You woud. Dryads are far bigger and have one piece body.

Ah well. Worth a shot.

Maybe I'll just use daemonettes then.

Nah, get some Dryads and sultp some boobies out of Green Stuff. Perfect Daemonettes!

Seriously though, I think there's some potential. In my notes for my Chaos army (atm, I'm far from being at the point where I'm gonna paint some Daemonettes), I scribbled something about using Dryads for Daemonettes. They'd look much more bestial and chaotic. There has got to be a way of doing something...

I meant I don't like the Dryad models for Woody Elves.

Interesting, I personally feel that they are one of the most interesting plastic release GW brought out over the last couple of years. What don't you like about them?

They seem easy to paint and all, but seriously I know what's going
to happen when I open that box. My brain will tell me they are trees.
They are trees. I can't shake the feeling that I'm painting terrain and
my brain shuts down.

But even if you use Daemonettes, aren't ya gonna paint 'em tree colors? (and are ya that allergic to terrain stuff? Pretty easy way to get good lookin results (just take a look at Macharia's fine looking bases).

I don't know. I guess I don't like the Dryad figs.

Nuthin wrong with that, you want an all elfie army but still able to make use of those nifty rules for the non-elfy things. So, back to your issue: how comfortable are you with green stuff? I would imagine that GS and/or the spare branches from the Dryad/Glade Guard kits are what others have used to turn their Daemonettes into Dryads. With both, your gonna have to do some chopping to those claws. And with both GS and the plastic branch bits, you'll need to pin them into place. In the case with the GS, you'll be pinning an armature, or wire skeleton, in place, over which the GS will go, which with some careful sculpting will look suitably branchy. The question is how patient are you with GS? This can be done relatively easily, but it will take some time and work.

On the otherhand, the easy way out really is the plastic dryads, which I imagine go together pretty fast and then for painting all ya gotta do is hose 'em down with black spray, dry brush a dark brown then a medium brown, glue a bunch of clumps of tree stuff on 'em and base 'em. They won't win ya any painting contests, but they'll certainly be tabletop quality and fun to scoot around the table. But if you can't stand the figs, I dunno. What about Shadowforge's Dryads? I pretty sure Neil at the WarStore carries them, if not there's definitely some US distributor out there, I just can't remember who.

I'll cross the bridge when I get there. If it doesn't work out I'll
just figure out another way to get elfy figs to rep the dryads.

You know how these things go. Dryads will just appear on my
doorstep one day, demanding glue and paint. And who am I
to argue with talking minis?

Aye, tis strange how they do that. I never refuse them either, lest I offend the mighty gods that hath sent me such strange and wondrous gifts.
