When placing deep striking models in a circle, if there are less models than it takes to complete a circle, are there any restrictions on how those models can be placed?

If that question was confusing, I've brought pictures! Red circle = first model placed. Gray circles = remaining 3 models in the first model's unit.

The rulebook didn't seem very specific in its description of Deep Strike. The answer could make a big difference for whether deep striking units mishap or not, so as a Daemons player I'm pretty curious about this. Internet, what is your verdict?

It says that they have to be placed in a circle. I would imagine that #2 is legal, since the #1 is an arc, not a circle, and yet is 100% legal.

There's nothing that says that each model has to be touching the last, just that you have to fill in a circle at a time.

So I see no reason that #2 wouldn't be legal, We certainly allow it around here.

Alright, good to hear. That's what I thought..I've just seen so many people placing the outer-rim as an arc in battle reports, I started to second guess myself. Thanks!
