Hi, I think Mordant doesn't need to, but not entirely sure, so is Mordant required to take a unit of ghost knights, or is he allowed to just deep strike in with termies/ paladins/ alone/ however the hell he wants.

Thanks

required to, no...should...yes. He is not required to do so but if he doesn't he isn't an independent character so he can't joina squad and is now out in the open.

Oh wow thanks. Didn't notice he wasn't an independent character. My mind was briefly opened to endless first turn deepstriking possibilities, then closed just as fast :(.

While Mordrak is not an Independent Character, he is also not "always a single-model unit", so he may still be joined by other ICs even though he can never join a non-IC unit other than his own Ghost Knights (which he is an upgrade character for).

on the fence about that one, as he is an "acting upgrade character" he is a one man unit and may not join an IC except on how that works about him acting as an upgrade.

I think it goes the way you're saying but it's close.

It really isnt close - he is not a unit that always consists of one model, so IC's can join

The only time you may want to leave him alone is that Mordrak is not on the list of exclusions for being made Scoring.
