Thought I might share these guys here as well for those looking for inspiration on painting light colored armour like bone.
I've got individual troop pics on my blog here: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2011/09/deathwing-squad-complete.html

When people ask me, "How do you build your army?"
I tell them its "The ten-zero factor, coolness ten, combat effectiveness... zero."

Hands down the best looking Deathwing I have ever seen. I'm not a fan of those guys, but this is different. This looks legit.

I need an excuse to paint some of my csm stuff like that. I love the bone white, I just can't think of anything it would work on.

Maybe a chaos dread...

Blown away. Very nice white, must have taken forever to get that smooth finish. Can't think of anything that needs improvement! Awesome work!

These are very very good! I like em.
Lighting is top notch and the battle damage looks very realistic.

The only thing that I think would make them look even better is a gloss varnish on the eye lenses, they look a little too muted to me. But that's just a tiny little detail.

Awesome. It looks a little whiter than bone white, but that might just be me. The paint job, the shading, and the bases, my word, the bases! Great models, simply fantastic.

Superb paintjob! have the same observation as jimsolo though, color's less bone white and more plain white or it just might be the lighting i'm not sure

fiddler6291: Good point, that might have saved me from having to add the reflection in there. It's another step of "realism" to add to the next squad.

MarshallDin: The bases are from Secret Weapon Miniatures. I got them because they were so simple and clean looking. I wanted the models to really stand out from the bases.

They are basically drybrushed like that. It starts with gunmetal, is washed repeatedly and then drybrushed with silver to get that worn down look.
Here's the link to the base tutorial: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2011/09/quick-way-to-paint-metal-decking.html

Jimsolo and Viersche: The lighting does play a little bit of trickery on them. The overhead shot is more accurate in representing their true color.
I tried to keep away from the pure "bone" color and went with something a little less saturated. It can be hard to pick out "one" armour color on them since they are shaded in terms of light and dark and not so much with specific color areas like we do most of the time.

When people ask me, "How do you build your army?"
I tell them its "The ten-zero factor, coolness ten, combat effectiveness... zero."

Best Deathwing paint job I have seen without a lie, and liking the colour, more towards the original white shade. Would love to see how you did it.

Vermillion: Here's the tutorial I posted on my blog on how to paint the armour itself.
http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2011/09/how-i-paint-deathwing-bone-armour.html

It covers the exact process and colors I used to get the look of the armour. The smaller elements (like weapons, iconography, etc) can be done to your liking using the same or your own personal approaches. Of course you can change out any of the colors in the tutorial to alter the final effect as well.

Thanks, I might strip a few of the old metal terminators I have down and start trying it out when I get the time.

I was considering painting a couple of my black templar units a bone color as sort of an inverted contrast to the rest of the black color scheme. This is some really awesome inspiration. Good looking stuff man :]
