What exactly do you need help with? Have you ever painted before?

Look at some pics of Space Marines on the internet until you find something you like the look of. Then, search Dakka or Google for tutorials to paint said chapter.

In all honesty just think of an empire or army throughout history and paint your marines that way. Thats how I created my "Counts as" blood angels army. I went with a middle age Knights Templar look I figured it would really fit in well with the Blood angels art design.

Its what we do best. We die standing

I recommend glue, to assemble, primer to prime them, and then brushes and paints.

Paint them in whatever colours you think look good. Don't feel beholden to copying established chapter colour schemes, I'd much rather see something unique on the battlefield than Ultramarines Successor Mk. 9999.

You should start with a basecoat of white or black (white is easier to paint over, but black is probably better for beginners, since uncovered parts of the basecoat in cracks and inaccessible areas won't stand out much like it will with white.)

Most important painting advice: ALWAYS thin your paints with water to milk-ish consistency, and use multiple thin coats when applying colour. This means you'll need to apply 2-3 coats (or more!) of every colour to get a good, clean coverage. It's a pain, but it's much better than clogging details with thick paint.

I wouldn't worry about washes when you're starting out, they're a quick way of giving a model depth but not at all compulsory (and you can get a decent wash effect from thinning down dark paints to water-consistency.)

All this information is helpfull guys! Thanks! And thanks sirrah for answering my question. I will check out some colour schemes but I would prefer making my own unique colours I'm sure many people would prefer to make there own colour scheme. Another question: If I Painted my Unit but didnt like it then could i put another coat of black over it and start again?

If you don't like something you've painted my advice is to strip the paint and start over with the basecoat.

There are a ton of threads here about stripping models. But only strip if you want to start completely over. You can paint over small mistakes easily.

My advice for colours? Pick a chapter from the list, or make your own chapter. Stay away from yellows and whites to start with unless you're prepared to invest lots of time into each mini. Paint up a couple test minis that you don't mind messing up. Keep it simple to start and gradually get more detailed as you become better at brush control and such.

Oh okay well hopefully I wont have to start over. And I will take your advise on the 'stay away from yellows and whites' .

Also, what I might do is try out alot of paint and see what i like or go to GW and look at other peoples models. Thanks Joshh
