Subject: Assault After Deep Strike?

The Dark Eldar Codex has two things that can allow raiders to deep strike, The Duke and Retrofire Jets. Retrofire Jets has the stipulation that you may not assault after deep strike. My question is if that means that you may assault after Deep Strike through use of The Duke?

GW needs to play up their cold, calculating, "join us or die, and probably still die anyway" Borg-y style. That's just me of course."

No, since it's prohibited by the regular Deep Strike rules anyway, and the Duke doesn't specifically over-ride those rules.

Thanks so much. I thought that it was a bit weird if it was able to assault after deep strike.

The Retrofire Jets prohibit you from disembarking (and therefore shooting as well), not assaulting. It is the Deep Strike rules that keep you from assaulting.

Retrofire says nothing about assaulting. It says you can't disembark which is very different.

First the Duke ability allows the vehicles do deep strike. Since the passengers dissembarked people were trying to say that you could assault since the vehicle DSed and not the squad. Personally I thought it was cheesy to try that and then GW came out with the FAQ. Last page:
Q: Does a unit being transported by a vehicle that has
arrived by Deep Stike that turn also count as having
arrived by Deep Strike? (p95)
A: Yes.
This mainly applies to LS storms and the duke. So in a nutshell...no. You cannot assault after a DS unless you have a rule giving you permission to do so such as heroic intervention.

BT uses the Codex Astartes as toilet paper. They’re an Imp Fist successor, recruit from multiple planets, and are known to be the largest Chapter in the galaxy. They’re on a constant Crusade, keeping it real for the Emperor and not bumming around like the other guys. They hate psykers and can’t ally with them. They’re basically an entire chapter of Chaplains. CC lunatics. What every Space Marine should aspire to be, if not trapped in a Matt Ward nightmare.

It was in the main rules anyway, the FAQ just reiterated it for people who dont read the rulebooks....
