I'm quite happy with how it turned out, I think I can improve on the gun and weapon next time though. Any advice is welcome.

Looking good Ratchet! The red on his weapon looks a bit thick though. Thinning your paints with a little water will do wonders for your models.

The skin looks fantastic though.

Great first mini.

I primed it black, so when I was painting the gun the black kept showing up through the red, I was too imparient to do many thin layers so I just made it thick :(

I'm not an ork fan but it looks great.

Excellent paintjob. Really well done for first! As said the gun isn't as good as the rest but this is a great start.

Great job! Love the work on the base too!

Orkses is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!

i'm not much of an Ork fan either, but I figure I could use them to practice and get better before I buy some Tau.

Normally whenever I click on these threads I click on them for a good laugh at the super thick paint and terrible lines..but this isn't the case at all. Your line work is great, and your paint appears very smooth. I guess I would just say wash the gun and that's it man, great stuff.

Looks amazing! Don't change anything with your skin technique - it looks great. If you hate painting red on black (like me) try using blue. it's way easier. don't be afraid to drybrush some mithril silver on metal bitz to make em look like the paint is scraping off, and some white-ish drybrushing on the teeth wouldn't hurt either.

Great work for your first mini! I like the base. The only criticism i have is that the paint on his gun looks quite thick. Drybrushing it with metal paint and rusting it could make it look more realistic and orky

Wash the gun, highlight the rest, and voila! Looking good for a first try

Great work for a first mini. I know what you mean with the red, i have blood angels and undercoat them black.

Build it up through darker shades of red first, helps with colours that don't cover well like red, yellow and white. Other than that looks pretty good for a first model.

If you precoat the red areas with brown you won't need as many layers of red.

Very nice figure for a first attempt, I think the skin could be a little lighter though.

18 layers of yellow once. I know how you feel.

Looks good, except fall red gun. Maybe a metallic color then red on parts of it?

To do red over black you should try Mechrite Red then Blood red over that. The Foundation paints are meant to cover over black primer.
