Hello all,

just started playing 40k with an army of chaos space marines and after my first few games I have a few questions that the rule book and codex can't answer for me.

First, I wondered if I can shoot both side-mounted lascannons of my land raider at the same target in front of it. The rules say that you have to check how the weapons are mounted and those can be swept 180 degrees at each side. But if both are targeted at the front, the land raider's hull blocks some sight of the inner las-cannon. What about a target that is in front of the land raider?

Also I haven't understood something. Say I fight fearless units, e.g. Tyranids. Now I have a big unit of weak stuff, let's say hormagaunts. Also I have one big creature, e.g. a hive tyrant. If I manage to multiassault both with 10 Khorne Berzerkers, I win the combat by far (e.g. 15 unsaved wounds) and all the hormagaunts take the wounds. Then the fearless units take extra wounds for losing the combat and being fearless. Now, if e.g. only 5 gaunts are left, but 15 wounds are generated by losing the assault, are they taken over to the hive tyrant? Or are both assaults of a multi assault handled separately and the extra wounds from losing just fizzle?

Thanks

There are no rules covering TL weapons and which barrel must see' as long as one of the barrels can see, from each weapon, most people allow the weapon to fire

In a multi assault EVERY unit on the losing side has lost - so would take the morale check at the same amount, or, in the case of Fearless, would take No Retreat! wounds. So, if you win the combat by 15 the Hive Tyrant, as a separate unit to the Gaunts, would take 15 NR! saves, as would the gaunts - that is 15 for each unit.

Swivel the weapons and look down the barrel to check if they can see. It's usually 180°, but some sponsons can swivel more or less than this (rulebook, p59; see the Predator sponson diagram). The LR sponsons can swivel a tiny bit more than 180°, so after a fair distance their LOS will converge. Obviously, if a target is reasonably large then both sponsons should be able to see at a much closer distance than that.

If any barrel of your weapon can shoot at the opponent, the whole weapon system can.

However, you should agree with your opponent before the game, whether the target gains cover if one or more barrels of a gun are blocked.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
