For Immediate Release

Catalyst Game Labs and Outrider Hobbies are pleased to announce they have entered into a new, long-term licensing agreement for BattleTech.

“This has been a very long time coming,” states Randall N. Bills, Managing Developer for Catalyst Game Labs. “There are a lot of really great miniatures bags on the market. However, like many fans, I want people to know what I’m playing the second I walk into a game store. A miniatures bag with the BattleTech logo, and even a faction patch, is a dream come true for any player.”

Outrider Hobbies will release two different sized bags, which will come with a standard assortment of foam trays for carrying everything in your collection. From BattleMechs and aerospace fighters, to infantry and vehicles, there will be plenty of choices available, and even custom tray options as well. Additional bags and foam trays will become available down the line.

Each bag will include the BattleTech logo, and each customer will be able to select from the following faction logos to add to the bag as a patch: House Davion, House Kurita, Clan Wolf, Clan Jade Falcon and ComStar (additional faction patches will become available in the future).

“We could not be more excited about this license agreement”, said Bryan Wade, Owner of Outrider Hobbies. “As BattleTech was directly responsible for getting me into gaming more than 20 years ago, the opportunity to work with the same people that have developed and shaped the BattleTech universe over the last decade and a half is a great honor.”

Specific prices and pre-orders will be available in the near future.

Look to www.catalystgamelabs.com for future announcements concerning this exciting development!

Wonder if Battlefoam will sue for them having the same business model of exclusive, game specific bags?

The concept of making a foam bag for a specific game isn't something you can really copyright. Even then, all the Battlefoam bags based around GW models aren't licensed or anything. They don't have a deal with GW to make foam for their figures; they just make their foam that way and it "happens" to fit the GW models.

I'm glad to hear about anything going on with Battletech; having the patches on your bag is a nice touch.

Awesome to finally see the news released on this. I guess I need to start work on the next set of patches.

They might try to sue for the ALL-CAPS thread title, it was a Battle-Foam special until recently.

Yes, I'm aware of that. The concept of laser to cut foam is well established as well but that didn't stop them before. See below...

Yes, it was but it's funny that it seems plausible that this could happen.

@Ozymandius - The bag will also be available in Navy Blue. I just got my prototypes made in the camouflage pattern we are going to use. And thanks!

You should get some pictures of the recon bag online. First I've ever seen of it since it was released has been that one shot in the Battle Tech posts.

Given how dumb the "foam wars" have been, I would only be 95% surprised if Romeo tried something this outrageous.

@Rotonia - Unfortunately, the BattleTech prototype is the first production version of the Recon we have made. There were some issues this summer that prevented me from having a production run made. We are however making one this week or early next due to increased demand.

@Everyone - And not to be a tool, but can we please not discuss the "Foam Wars" in this thread? I'm happy to start another one if needed, but I'm really excited about this announcement and would like to keep it on that subject.
