Howdy gang. I've been looking to build a 2500 pt list since I found out 'Ard Boys was 2500 this year(I'm hoping to compete next year and in tournies in general soon). So here's my first serious list.. Tell me whatcha think.

The Baron
Vect and his yacht
9 Trueborn with 4 blasters
Raider w/ff

5 Warriors w/1 blaster in a venom w/dual SC x6
3 Beastmasters w/ 4 dogs and 4 birds x2
10 Scourge w/4 Dark Lances
Ravager w/ff x2
Razorwing w/ff

That's that. Should come up a couple pts under. The way I see it is there's 16 Dark Lances at long range and 10 at 18 inches. Plenty of assaulty death with The Baron, Vect, and the two groups of wounds sponge beasts. Annnd a ton of poison

I think vect+yacht is wasted in this list. I would recommend dropping him and using the points to split up the truborn into 3-4 man blaster squads and maybe a haemie to start with the scourges, then jump in with a trueborn squad. you might want to consider making room for a wyche squad or two, they can hold things up that tend to run over the beast packs.

I see 15 Lances at range - so either I'm miscounting, you miscounted, or you forgot to list something.
6 on the Ravagers
2 on Razorwing
4 in Scourges
3 with the Dias

First things first - the Dias is, hands down, probably the single worst investment in the Codex. It costs too much for what it is, and obligates you to pay more than you should have to in order to fill it, and on top of that can only be bought with one of our most expensive ICs. What is that one unit ringing up at - around 600 points or something?

600 points that can be penetrated using a lascannon on Turn 1 5+ and wrecked/destroyed even off a glancing hit?

And can't get FFs or NSs to even try to help?

Meh, meh, meh. I'd avoid it - a basic Raider will be almost as survivable and will not make you waste 2 lances every time you want to move over 6" (and theoretically if you're using Vect you're trying to cram him into h2h as fast as possible, yes?)

I'm not sure I see the value of the Razorwing when you want to bring so many Venoms - they both serve the same purpose. It's not as 'meh' as the Dias, but I would analyze what you're doing there before taking 6 Venoms and then some additional anti-infantry tools.

I think that Trueborn build is kinda silly expensive, and not really the best thing to partner with Vect. They want no part of assault, and functionally you'r buying 5 extra bodies because of the Dias rules that have little purpose being there. 4 w. 4 Blasters in a Raider is not shabby - personally I'd like to see Vect with an assault oriented squad, but I do think you need the anti-tank. Eh...it's a debate, I just think you need to consider what happens if you want to flat out with Vect turn 1. Poof, there goes a lot of your anti-tank shooting.

Scourges are okay...though I personally think they're pricey for what they're giving you. Even two three man Trueborn squads with 2 lances each would be better for anti-tank purposes - and it would save you a *ton* of points.

If you absolutely love Scourges, I'd at least strongly encourage you towards haywire Blasters (which will give you *something* that can deal with Blessed Hulls and Monoliths reliably, which is a plus) plus they'll be able to deepstrike/move and still shoot, which is *huge*.

Personally I'd probably drop them and use the points elsewhere, but you really need to consider what they will or won't get you - and Scourges have a lot of glaring weaknesses when equipped with lances.

Some quick thoughts, you may wish to also check out the link in my sig to the DE Tactica, which might offer you some other good ideas and general composition thoughts that would probably be very helpful to you.

Regards,
Thor.

I was attempting to get away from the 9 Venoms in this list. I do still want some in there, but wanted to avoid dropping all nine. I had been thinking about using some Bloodbrides or something in there, but I wasn't sure if having so much assualt oriented things was productive in the list. Perhaps one unit of a Wych type squad.

As for Vect, I just always wanted to use him and thought I could grab his yacht to get some more long range lances.

The 16th lance comes from the Raider purchased with the Trueborn.

I agree on the points cost for Vect and his ride. And I knew the Trueborn weren't exactly ideal for the ride. I originally planned to drop them with DL's instead of blasters and just have Vect ditch the ride early on. Leave the gunboat just chilling about.

As for the Razorwing, I've used it so many times to great results, I won't leave home w/o one in my larger lists anymore. I find it perfectly compliments the duality of the Dark Eldar being able to accomplish both AT and Anti-infantry. Forgot to add on the extra SC I normally drop on there.

And finally, I had planned on using the Scourges for chilling in the back in some cover and playing tag. Very iffy on the haywire blasters. I really don't want another unit I need to move up close to be effective. I see your point on the unchanging 14 armor, though. Might have some use in using a wych type unit.

Anyways, ty guys on the thoughts. Will definitely think about dropping the yacht. But I kinda like the idea of both Vect and the Baron in one list.
