I'm sculpting the thought of repainting my Chaos Space Marines (read unit, not army) and accompanying Rhinos as the Black Legion to accompany my Thousand Sons, as well as purchasing Abbadon himself. To commemorate this occasion I am soon buying the Relic/Contemptor Dreadnought to be part of this small warband.

My dilemma is more of a question of fluff. How would the Black Legion treat this artifact over the course of time? Would they don there current Black and Gold/Silver colors now, or remain in the Sons of Horus colors? Would they even be as far back as to be the Luna Wolves?

This model is awesome, and I'm dying to get it. Thanks!

Personally, i think they're called "Chaos Marines" for a reason. Go with whatever you think would be appropriate. The pearl-white of the Sons of Horus would make the model stand out quite a bit. The black and gold would have him blend in and look cohesive. Or you could do a Sons of Horus scheme with Chaos symbols scattered about the model

That would be pretty cool actually.

Note - the preview page for the new Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition shows the page with the entry for a Chaos Contemptor Dreadnought. With an actual shot of a model. While it may be a conversion, I would bet on FW having a Chaos version up their sleeve.

Oh bummer, then I have to wait even more. I thought the Khorne icons were just conversions that the modeller felt appropriate for the model.

It looks like you can dedicate the Chaos Contemptor to one of the Chaos gods!

I was just looking at the blurry picture. Bottom right appears to be the same thing repeated 4 times with Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle, Tzeentch.

I saw that as well. Is it safe to say Tzeentch give 5+ invul, Khorne gives more attacks, Nurgle increeases the AV by 1, and Slaanesh gives you initiative?

Forgeworld are different to GW in that if they have rules for a unit, they have a model for it. If there's a Chaos Contemptor in IA: A Second Edition, they have a model coming.

No.

Many of the models from IA 9 and 10 were not released for up to a year later, if at all.

Just because there is a picture, that doesn't mean there will be a model. There are many models that are studio made but not put into production.

However, with all of the Imperial Contemptors, I'm betting the Chaos contemptor will be released. I wouldn't hazard a guess to when, though.

I'm hoping so, this waiting it killing me. A Chaos Contemptor would be so awesome!

FW announced at games day that a chaos contemptor is forthcoming.
