When GK use cleansing flame, do they also get to strike back in close combat? I did a search but couldn't find a definitive answer.

Why would they not be allowed to strike in CC?

Cleansing flame is a Psychic power.

Casting Psychic powers has no bearing on the unit being able to use CC attacks.

Cleansing flame is on P.31 of the GK codex, it tells you everything you need to know.

Isn't Cleansing Flame a close combat attack, as per the FAQ?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Cleansing Flame is considered to be a close combat attack so that units with special close combat abilities (i.e. wyches) get at least a chance to fight. The power itself is entirely separate from the purifiers attacks being a psychic power.

It's also considered a CC attack for purposes of combat resolution. Which means purifiers will pretty much auto-break a mob.

Cleansing Flame is resolved before any blows are struck, effectivly at Inititive 11.

Then you resolve all attacks in I order, including the purifier's actual attacks(normally at I6 because of Halberds)
