Hello dakka dakka,
The FLGS is having a 1500 point tourney. Right now the current meta includes a few ork players, SM variants including at least one SW and one GK, possibly some eldar or dark eldar, and a few guard players.
I'm planning on running this list and hoping for some C&C from those more experienced than I. I can see how it may appear bland, but I'm of the opinion that if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I feel that this list has a fair amount of flexibility. Plenty of AV13. Baals to deal with hordes and a fair amount of shooty.
A few questions:
1. I can see situations where it might be advantageous to hold the entire army in reserve. Situations such as a strong alpha-striker with initiative. What has been your experience with this sort of playstyle? I'd like to test it out, but the tournament is coming up soon and most of my practice games have simply had me fielding everything and using cover to the best of my advantages.
2. Power Fists on the Sgts. Worth it? Plan is to use those two particular squads to secure more forward objectives. I'd have a priest on-hand to grant FC/fearless. I just feel that this combination has been a little underwhelming in MSU style armies. Thoughts?
3. Baal Preds. I have found that the Auto-Cannon model delivers far more consistent results. However, do you folks often start them on the field?
My biggest concern is that this list, designed to be an all-comers list, will suffer the "jack of all trades, master of none" flaw against armies that might be better at shooting and armies that might be better at assaulting. Does anybody have any tactical advice they might be able to direct me toward or lend? Additionally, I had some thought of fielding a 10-man jump pack squad supported by a priest and dropping a few of the razorbacks, but I feel that actually takes away from the synergy of the army and may be more difficult to play well.
Thanks!
