Hi everyone, my name is Tom, and please address me as such, not a huge fan of nicknames or screen names, and I'm 18 years old. I just recently, about a month ago, a little longer if I remember right, started playing and painting miniature wargames. I've had a Vampire Counts Battalion sitting in my closet on it's spures for about 3 years now if I remember right, and I decided to pull them out, spend some money on paints and brushes to work on it some, shortly after I painted a few things, my mother got married, and I got a new step-brother (who, while not on here, is AWESOME) who plays 40k, after talking him for a while, and playing a proxy game (as Grey Knights), I decided to switch to 40k. Shortly after, I was gifted a set of Grey Knight termies and Draigo for my birthday, and about 50 bucks, which I promptly spent of more paints and some new brushes and the next day got started. About a month later I finished my stuff, and this was my finished product.

I can post individual picture and my first model ever (Skeleton Banner Bearer), if you guys want, also got a troop of ghouls as well, it's all in my gallery.

However, I probably won't be fielding these models again, I played a bunch of proxy games at my FLGS and found that I really did not like playing GK and I really don't think the models are all that fun to paint (don't get me wrong, I had a blast, but I don't really want to paint more of them). after a while of discussion and pondering, I have decided to build and play a Eldar army. As I don't care about being competitive I will more then like grab models I really like, figure out a color scheme and then put together an army.

I just got a job, and am starting Monday, and will get payed after 2 weeks of work. I'll pay rent to my dad, pay for insurance so I can finally start driving. And then the rest of it will be put toward some Eldar models and some more paints after I figure out what color scheme I'm going to paint them.

decided to just post the solo shots. And while I feel that they are not terrible besides the skeleton, that's they're not that good either.

First Model I ever Painted, and boy does it look terrible:

Draigo:

Apothecary:

Paladin 1:

Paladin 2:

Paladin 3:

Paladin 4:

Hey! I'm at the newb phase my self. I've probably been playing for at least a year, but I've been playing super casually and I've only really got into painting my army over the summer.
I think your space marines look pretty good. (though I'm no expert). You seem to do well with the metals.
As for your skeletons, you might try this recipe my friend game me for bones. Its pretty easy.
Just base coat with bleached bone, highlight with skill white, then wash with gryphonne sepia. (I've also heard washing with badab black works too, but I perfer the sepia. Its like liquid talent!)

Staying on target.....

The eldar models are fantastic to build and paint, I personally love them

Be interested on how your colour scheme comes along.

Your knights look very neat which is the hardest part so don't worry if they arent pro, with a little practice it will come in time

Trust me your skeli is way better than my first rohirrim, omg i still have nightmares about him

I'll be honest, the only thing I know for sure is that the helmets will be white, with some color in lowered/raised areas. I know I want a realitively bright army, so I need to sit for a bit after I get the first squad assembled.

Also, I won't be finishing my undead army for a long time, but thanks for the tip

Do you know about the Eldar backstories? Either way, you should sure the different craftworlds. They all have different paint schemes, and you'll probably find one you like.

Btw, you GKs kick serious ass.

Yes, I kow the backstories, but I can, I'd like to come up with my own, and maybe right some stories to go along with it. And I think my Gks are only to a tabletop standard, but thanks for the confidence booster :

Okay, so I've got 1 guardian done as well as the heavy weapons team with heavy weapons platform. Well "done" as in assembled, also got a few others half/kinda done.

I'm having a lot of trouble assembling ONE guy, and I'm starting to get really frustrated.
