So I am kind of proud of this list...its probably the most simple list I have ever made (save for 5 Tervigons and 90 gants) but I decided to make a shooty Tyranid list.

Spoiler:
HQ
-Tervigon (Adrenal Glands; Toxin Sacs; Catalyst; Onslaught)

ELITE
-2 Zoanthrope Brood

-2 Zoanthrope Brood

-2 Zoanthrope Brood

TROOP
-Tervigon (Scything Talons; Adrenal Glands; Toxin Sacs; Catalyst; Onslaught)

-30 Termagant Brood

-30 Termagant Brood

FAST
-Harpy (TL Heavy Venom Cannon; Cluster Spines)

-Harpy (TL Heavy Venom Cannon; Cluster Spines)

-Harpy (TL Heavy Venom Cannon; Cluster Spines)

HEAVY
-3 Biovore Brood

-3 Biovore Brood

-3 Biovore Brood

2000/2000

It's fairly simple...but here's what you have. Reliable long ranged TL S9 blasts on the Harpies which are also winged MCs. The 3 squads of 2 Zoans are sure to ruin somebody's day with the 2 available firing modes. And then once vehicles are open...Biovores...S4 AP4 large blast pinning barrages which place spore mines on the board if they happen to miss. Then the list retains solidarity with 2 Tervigons and 60 gants. Tervigons have both Catalyst and Onslaught (lets you run and shoot in the same turn)

I might start building this list for tournaments...tournaments because it's an easy list to play, its faster to play, and it looks all around fairly solid.

I like the theme to this list, and that many biovores is a lot of large blast templates to deal with, power armour or not. My concern is however, that a fast moving army will close with that fire base at the back sharpish and shut it down. This leaves you with the 3 harpies to flit around. I agree that harpies, fragile as they are would benefit from the strength in numbers approach, I just worry that you won't get the mileage out of the hvcs.

Despite my concerns, I really want a list like this to do well, and would really like to hear how you get on with it.

I like harpies, but they don't have synapse and are faster than the rest of the list. With IB - lurk there is a danger of them just sitting in cover until the synapse bubble catches them up. I think you are better off with a gargoyle screen, 2 harpies and a flyrant as the HQ.

Why would the Harpies be flying ahead of synapse? They aren't the type of unit you just run forward into assault...

replace all your zoanthropes with hive guard and you will be doing much better. with all the hoods on the table right now, you are having to roll too many dice to user their weapons. Hive guard have a simple hit, and wound roll, no pychic checks involved.

If you want units to just tramp along at 6" then take raveners and not harpies. The point of paying the price for wings is there movement speed and ability to outflank.

Harpies play a little like GK Interceptors...not streamlined for combat but instead purposed for avoiding assault and maintaining firepower through speed.

I really like this build, it's very original , and I think you'd benefit from a few small changes. I don't think you need Onslaught since nobody's in a rush with this list, and I think a flyrant is begging to be included. The flyrant just opens up so many options for you. The harpies provide him cover and can operate on a much larger leash, you gain access to the best psychic power in the game, and you'll never have to worry about deathstar units getting too close to your CC inept firebase with acid blood and the lash whip. He's perfect!
Spoiler:
Hive Tyrant w/ wings & acid blood

2 Zoanthropes

Tervigon w/ scything talons, toxin sacs, adrenal glands, catalyst
20 Termagants 100

All I did was remove 2 zoanthropes, 20 termagants, and both Onslaughts to add a flyrant with acid blood and gave scything talons to the now scoring tervigon. Yeah? I like the symmetry of it all
