I'm just starting out with Ogres and have been decided how I want to paint my force. I've noticed that many ogres have blood on one arm but couldn't find a mention if this was a normal practice for all of them or if it is only the Bloodfists that do this? I like the look but don't want to build an army based on a pre-existing tribe. I may just adopt the ritual for my own tribe regardless but I like to be semi-fluffy and would like to know if anyone has the answer.

Ogres are pretty simple minded, so I'm sure more than a few put bashing things with their fists and the blood that comes from that together and dicided to have their fists painted.

Honestly it would be hard to not be fluffy with ogres. Painting the heraldry of a bretonnian knight on the back on one could simply signify that that ogre though that knight was the best tasting human ever, so he keeps the symbol on him to remind him what thinklings to look out for.

Paint it however you want it, if it looks like the bloodfists, just change up the patterns a little, use different colors, etc. etc.

My ogres paint their entire bodies red because their tyrant took down a bloodthirster. Seeing how powerful the bloodthirster was in combat, they decided to make use of red skin and brass weapons to show that they are as powerful as a greater daemon.

To keep my army looking unique as possible, I also converted every model to have iron fists on both left and right hands, with hands taken from other bits so that they actually look correct. This only applies for bulls because iron guts are tasked with taking down bigger things that could very well take a precious arm off, so they use converted glaives.

So uh, yeah. It hard to make ogres that look out of place unless your actually trying to.
