I don't normally have a problem with the models toppeling over but I do on occasion. Most notably are IG standard bearers, not so much weight, but the size of the model causing it to tip. Anyone have any good ways to weigh the base those few problem models won't fall over?

Go to the hardware store and buy a pack of metal washers, It will be under a couple bucks and you will have more than enough for a whole unit

I had to do this with over 100 genestealers and guants, it works like a charm. Plus it gives the models a nice heft to them and keeps things like table bumping from knocking them over / moving them.

Not much of a tutorial, shouldn't this go into the regular Painting and Modeling?

In either case, ever since Sweden stopped using our equivalent of the cent (Swedish öre), I use those coins to weight my unstable normal infatry. The newer 50-öre are a bit small and lightweight, but the significantly older 50-öre make near good weights, fitting nearly perfectly inside the round base of a Warhammer round-base model.
Try looking for appropriate sized coins

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Yep, a coin or a washer stuck to the bottom normally works. For our UK friends, a penny works for standard 40k bases and 25mm WHFB bases, a 5p works for 20mm.

A penny normally works out cheaper than a washer too.

but pennies don't add the pleasant heft of a washer, well worth the slightly higher cost.

I used nickels on my ever-wobbly Pink Horrors. Good weight, fits perfectly into the base. A little more costly than pennies I suppose, but ah well. If I'm ever hard-up for money, I can just start paying my bills in Daemons.

Nickles and blue-tack. I have them under most of my bases.

I bought a ton of used fishing weights from yard sales for next to nothing. And got some fishing gear, too. Smashed them with pliers, a vise, hammer, whatever. PVA glued them under the bases. No more wobbly boyz!

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."

get some superglue and plug a nickel in the bottom. Fastest, easiest way to do it.

I think British pennies weigh a fair bit more than US pennies. You certainly get a nice heft on all the minis I've pennied up.

Besides the fishing weight Idea, what do you guys do with slotted bases? You can't really put a penny or washer on it short of cutting said penny/washer in half.

Also I'd rather not stuff clay underneath it.

2x3mm rare earth magnets is my solution (they hold 300g each). It's also very practical for fantasy regiments for use with metal regimental bases... and yes of course - to stick them on the fridge - nothing says "good morning" to your cereals like a zombie shambling up he fridge door .

That inspires me. Playing free fall games. Using vertical surfaces and a crap ton of magnets, you make a game based around the two armies in a free fall.

- -2 bs across the board
- One attack per model in CC
- Everyone has furious charge if assualting downwards, everyone has defensive grenades if being assaulted from downwards
- Everyone has slow and purposeful except for jump infantry.

etc. etc.

I saw a tutorial around he awhile ago that used shot pva glued into the base. While somewhat costly (in comparison to pennies), I feel this is much more effective for heavier models, such as zoanthropes or hive guard.
