monster names such as the dread Saurian an ethereal dinosaur?, shards dragon named character etc
fimir warriors have an entry in monstrous arcana, although reproduction methods have been missed out
release date for the new monstrous arcana book is January february.
Apologies for picture quality its a camera phone.
RanaldLoec wrote:The new warhammer forge look. I don't know if its SoM or open to normal WFB rules.
It's a work in progress with upto 53 monsters being added.
Each lore of magic gets an elemental, the lore of beasts one we have seen.
Skaven get a few new monsters like the hellpit destroyer etc etc
Their are entries for fimir warriors.
Serpent Men of Kuresh or similar.
Dread Saurian an ethereal dinosaur
Lots of other names but the rules writer I was talking to stated its all work in progress and could change.
Oh for chaos dwarves
Big armoured suites with fire demons trapped inside, the initial sketch has Japanese style demon face masks.

It is a bestiary.
A book full of monsters.
All laid out as scrolls of binding like in SoM
My sense of it was the Monsters in the book would have both a SoM style scroll of binding and if it was clearly for a particular army like a Skaven monster then the rules for using it with your Skaven army would be included.
Also I think the aim is to complete all the monsters in the book in a year ... so by next Gamesday ... not next December.
They are off to a good start by including in the book everything they have so far.
After this another 'Imperial Armour/Tamurkhan' style book detailing another epic clash between good and evil.
But NOT Chaos. The plans for the full series of Chaos books as originally imagined has been shelved.

The book is out sooner. 12 months is how long the sculptors think it will take them to do every monster in the book!
The elemental thing is great. Chatted to Mark Bedford about this.
He said rather than just do the four elements ... water, earth wind and fire they had decided to do elementals for all the winds of magic. So a return of the Life and Death elementals. His ideas for the Metal elemental were exciting.
RanaldLoec wrote:I was told a release date early next year January February for the book by the rules writer/ developer.
Sorry I have no pictures of the Saurian Dinosaur but it was similar to a carnosaur but with allot of gold coloured glyph armour around its body creeping up onto its head with a sleeker more pointed snout than the carnosaur and larger fore limbs.
Grimstonefire wrote:From what I remember, there's a (another) two headed dragon that's currently being sculpted (not chaos).
In artwork: Human sized werewolves (werekin?? Marauders that have burst out of their skin) At least 4 skaven creatures including (as someone else said, a huge abomination thing). Rat wolves.
Some creature that looks like it's a chaos spider covered in little spiders.
A few undead things in there including a vargulf type creature.
A big dinosaur (as someone else said)
Loads of typical fantasy monsters. Typical to fantasy generally I mean (unseen in warhammer before).
Also something which caught my attention, a golden empire griffon statue that fires fireballs out of it's chest!
Due to be out next games day.

Random vaguely on topic thing on the subject of wolves. Brian Nelson categorically ruled out him ever sculpting anything with fur again after doing the Boars. I was fishing to see if he was sculpting new wolves you see.

1) The next book from WF will be a monsters book but more of a supplement of data sheets a la Storm of Magic. All the monsters in it are hoped to be out within one and a half years. (of book release I assume)
2) WF will not be doing hobgoblin models as they would be too expensive to buy in resin for such a cheap unit.
3) They hope to have some High Elf stuff in the next campaign book (not the monster supplement)
Forgeworld and Warhammer Forge made Games Day worthwhile for me but as others have said it felt like GW dropped the ball and I think that is down to Dreadfleet not capturing the imagination. Now if they re-did Blood Bowl with a printed cloth field and new models people would go berserk. My sympathies to the GW staff who will have to try and excite people about DF.

Phoenix had stats like a great eagle, but had a few special rules too, in a high elf army, the phoenix acted like a bsb and also, when the phoenix was killed, on a 5+ it gets back up on 1 wound and everythign in base contact takes a S5 hit
Pretty ure it had a 3rd special rule, think it was something like -1 to wound it.
RanaldLoec wrote:There where sooooo many names in the mock up book a good number of complete entries rules, fluff, artwork and points.
Forgive any spelling mistakes from memory
Dread Saurian
Shard Dragon
Fimir Warriors
Basilisk
Maw Wyrm (i was told this name had already changed and was a completely different monster).
Warp Wolf
E'tan
Kuuresh or Khuuresh serpent men (the designer got excited about these guys made mention of some island mentioned in the big battle rule book as being their origin).
Corrupted Coatl (thanks to fellblade for the correct name (linked to the serpent men)
Their was a few named character monsters mentioned one I believe was a dragon.
Honestly there was too much information to absorb the designers where really excited by the level of interest and kept sharing more info than I could take in.

Darius Hinks let on he's writing a trilogy about Orion which sounds like awesomesauce.
Nighthawke wrote:i was talking to the guy who was writing it and he was saying about the beast model they designed it the wrong way, they made it first then decided to put it in the book so have to make rules and artwork for the thing xD
things about the book i found out is that its apparently out around fec next year and the monsters can be used in non-storm of magic games,
oh and they also had two pages at the back of the book called dino 1 and dino 2 as they wanted to do some dinosaurs but didnt really know what yet and one idea floating around was a giant terradon
forgot to add, has anyone posted pic of the little toads they made so when you use the scrolls or bret spell etc you can replace the model

WF ruled out basic chaos dwarf warriors and hobgoblins because they felt they would be to expensive.... Yet they put in the entry for hobgoblins nontheless and tell us to find alternatives!? Why not warriors as well?
(...)
Those who were expecting plain ordinary CD warriors that aren't in chaos armour will be disappointed. Unless they look elsewhere...
Or put another way.
When you consider that unless FW management reconsider, the entries in the Tamurkhan list will be the ONLY models that FW will release now for CD. As part of a complete list that is (i.e. they could still release add ons years from now).
So bearing this in mind and the fact that there are only 2 CD infantry units in the whole list, it's a terrible shame that they didn't just include the option for basic CD warriors. Just copy and paste from the dwarfs book. Job done.
As it is we're left with 2 (admittedly cool in theme) units that are very closely themed, which is nothing really considering what they could have done.
If they'd split the infernals with fireglaives off into a separate unit that would have given them the option of releasing different models. Visually more impressive having variety.
