I was wondering how to distribute LC and TH/SS across my assault terminators. I play Black Templars, and this question is made under the assumption that I take Accept Any Challenge, the assault terminators are in an eight man squad, and ride in a LRC. On a secondary note, does the assault vehicle rule allow the two inch disembark as well as the six inch assault?

From 3++

"Because your captain is smarter than Belial and all templar commanders ever, he doesn't discard his iron halo when you dress him up as a terminator. Remember this."

I'd go 5 LC 3 TH/SS with furious charge.
Yes. After you drop your models as far out as the 2 inches let you, you assault six inches. With codex shrike marines, this can mean they disembark 2, run D6, assault 6.

Enjoy the crusader.

With Black Templars load up eight into a Land Raider Crusader. Take Accept Any Challenge, No Matter the Cost and give all of your Terminators Furious charge, which is a paltry amount of points per model. Your squad of eight should cost 344 points. You now have a squad of reroll everything S5 I5 power weapons. Take five Lightening Claws and three Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield to cushion wounds a bit better. With two inches of disembark and six inches of assault you have an eight inch threat range from the assault ramp.

Its actually more than 8" as you only have to have part of your base withing 2" of the access point. This means you add the entire width of the base to your distance, which for Terminators means you get an extra ~1.5" from the large bases. Its nearly a 22" threat range in total when you factor in 12" move, ~3" disembark and 6" assault, which is enough to get a first turn assault going second.

It's only part of your base? Damn, I always thought that the far end must be two inches away from the hull.

I'm curious as to why putting a 609 point unit on the board is a good thing? In 2k point games, that is a full 1/4 of your army. A whole quarter of your army that can be easily neutralized by suicide melta or simple movement blocking. Make sure you pray that you don't play Tau or Battlewagon Orcs. Taking the 5-man Terminator unit is risky enough; throwing more points into an unit that will likely not reach the enemy seems foolish to me. Besides which, 8 terminators is overkill if you do manage to get there. Five terminators are more than sufficient for your needs and saves you lots of points. 3 LCs and 2 TH/SS.

Normally I suggest a 1/3 or 1/4 ratio of LC to TH/SS. This allows your termies to have a few hits at targets before I1. It can give you an edge when fighting other TH/SS squads, or when your going after a low-number squad with a PF hidden in it.

Exceptions would be if your playing Vulcan (which your not), as the ability to master-craft the TH makes them edge out IMHO.

AAC, NMTO>Vulkan. Furious Charge Lightning Claws also changes stuff a fair bit.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

I agree with this.

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.
