Hello Dakka, I have been lurking these forums for awhile really apreciating the craftsmanship that people put into their armies. I started playing 40k probably back in Mar/Apr of this year. I started with AoBR. This is where my desire to paint probably started and have been working on painting minis pretty regularly for the last 6-7 months. I wanted to start this blog to hopefully inspire people to attempt things maybe they normally would not.

I am currently working on painting up a 1500 point blood angel army that I have scrounged together from the AoBR box and some other units that I have bought. I know that it's not the most optimised army but I don't really care. I really am striving to get a base army painted up. As I'm sure most Dakkaites can relate to, looking at 1500 points of primed and unpainted minis can be rather daunting. Anywho, without further ado, here is the list that I have put together that I am working towards painting up. (Organized by Squad)

So I managed to find sometime to finish up the Baal Predator, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I used a power drill to divet the front armor of the Predator for the bullet holes. I've never done that before. I'm trying to figure out if I should do the Sanguinary Guard or the Honor Guard next, any ideas?

Wow man! Great work, I love all the freehands, especially the ork counter! I think you're off to a great start, but my only concern is i can see a fingerprint smudge in the wash on your gold, but don't worry about it man, this is a fantastic start!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. The ork counter is one of those things that just popped into my head and just seemed to fit so well with the predator. I'm not to wild about how the "MoM" banner turned out right above it. I might take it off. I really wanted to fit the slogan "Born Free" somewhere on the tank so maybe back there. As far as the smudge goes, I'll have to see if that is actually a smudge or a lighting anomoly.

I've been searching the web looking for conversions of Dante, since my army is slowly turning in a Dante themed army. I'm not entirely stoked with how the Dante model really measures up in turns of epic'ness. I guess the problem is that Dante doesn't seem that much more inspiring then the Sanguinary Guard are. I mean he's the freaking lord of the Blood Angels, you think he'd be a little more spectacular then he is.

This mini is a buyable that you would have to use as a counts as from HiTech Miniatures. I like it a lot, but doesn't represent Dante as much due to the shield and terminator style armor.


This next one I found while browsing google, I think this is the conversion I'm going to try and pull off. I have the Sanguinor in pieces on my workbench, and I have the metal Dante in pieces. I think I'm going to try and find some green stuff and piece this all together. I've never worked with green stuff before so it should get pretty interesting.


Gonna go field my army tonight at the local gaming store, maybe I'll get a battle report up with the whole army. Shoot, with that being said I should probably get a whole army pic up.

@lipsdadips, I assume you're referring to the painted winged sanguinor/sanguinary guard conversion. I like it, although I probably won't end up trying it, i've ended up modifying my list to exclude Dante...

@M0ordain, one thing I've always liked about Orcs is the humor, Space Marines are sooooo serious all the time so I wanted to throw just a smidgen of humor in there, and hell, who doesn't love mom?

Sooooo, after looking at my list and thinking about how I could bump it up to 1850 using the models I have I ended up coming with this.

Anywho, I really wanted to work the death company into the mix and paint a Death Company theme'd Razorback. I had the first Razorback I ever painted and modded it for the TL Heavy Flamer from some of the Baal Pred sprues. I don't have pics of that yet but I will try and take some later. I have painted up a model for the chaplain, I was experimenting with some Drybrushing techniques, I guess I'm kinda happy with him.



I made the weapon from a cut up Thunder Hammer, I could have done some more work on it but I got bored.

Next up is my Mephiston! I have thought about sooooo many different kinds of Mephiston conversions mainly because he is such a beast and his model simply is not. Sadly, since I'm trying to do this on a budget I have kit bashed up a Mephiston using the Space Marine Captain model from the AoBR box.



Also I have put some work into my Sanguinary Guard very WIP but you can get an idea of the color scheme.



Next is my kitbash Jump Pack Librarian and Sanguinary Priest Jump Pack Conversions. Libby is all painted up. Sanguinary Priest still has the painting to go.




Next up is my Honor Guard, the primed one is the Sanguinary Noviate, and the unprimed ones are the Honor Guard with Meltaguns. Also after that is my version of the Blood Champion.




Finally is the Power Weapon Death Company Models, I like the idea that the power weapon allows the death company to dual wield so I emphasized the fact with them holding two swords.



That's all for now, I have so much painting to do!!! I need to get started but it can be daunting. Oh, I mentioned that I might be doing a battle report, my friend and I went to the shop but there weren't any games going so we went into the city to another shop. They were doing a demo night for Warmachine so my friend and I both got introduced to that game! I looks like a lot of fun and the models are beautiful! So my friend and I plopped down the cash and this bad boy is in the mail...



Hopefully I'll get some pics of those getting painted up soon!
