I've been plaing some games with nids and I'm not sure if some of the uints are worth the points. Has old one eye worked for anyone else? He just seems to die without doing anything when I use him. What about Broodlords? They do alright but, for how many Broodlords are in my list it seems that getting the extera geanstealers would be better. What do you guys think?

"As I looked into its dead black eyes, I saw the terrible sentinence it had in place of a soul. Behind that was the steel will of its leader. Further still I could feel its primogenitor coldly assessing me from the void. And looking back from the deepest recesses of the aliens mind I perceived what I can describe only as an immortal hunger.
We can slay the tyranids on our worlds, blast their fleets from space, grind their armies to torn and ruined fragments. But their hunger? That is beyond our ability to slay."

You only take BLords for the -1 leadership power
try taking

The Deathleaper
The Doom of Malanti
3 Broods of Stealers with Outflank or a Spore pod

The various leadership debuffs will make sure the Doom kills everything but orks

Just dont take Old One Eye, Just dont

Ya, I play Crons, what about it?
Also, they are just shiny space zombies with guns.

IMO the broodlords aren't worth it and neither is old one eye.

OOE is overpriced and all in all pretty terrible, broodlords just don't seem needed on the lil killy units and you'd prolly be better off just taking more bodies

Broodlords are unstoppable in Kill-Team...

Old One Eye is highly useless.

It is a while since I read the codex, but the broodlords psycic power only works during the assault phase? So by the time the dooms power rolls around there is no effect.

If this is true it is just another example of non tyranid players backseat driving the tyranid codex.

To awaser the original question the broodlords are good (as the genestealers get shot you remove from the back, but the broodlords packs a punch in the front) Also he is really good to stcak wounds from bolters when out of cover etc. His hypnosis is also AWASOME vs characters and MC's. (Think of him as an assassin.) Also he is not an IC.

With that being sead, I do not like genstealers. They are awsome when they shine, but usualy they hit the oponent some time before the rest of your battleline and your oponent shoot the genstealers in round 1 and 2, and they shoot the rest round 3 and 4. Also vs Rhino, Chimera, Razorbacks, Imolators, Raiders, Wave Serpents, Venoms, Trucks, Battlevagons or Landraider you are looking on charging it turn 2, only hitting on 6's. If you destroy the transport they open it up, get shot, and turn 3 you charge through the wreck and hit last loosing 300 points of Genestealers easaly.

A small pack of genestealers outflanking with a broodlord outflanking can be a good threath and disturbing his deployment.

In short if you want a lott of genestealers then use hive guards to shoot open the transports. And try to make "tails" so that you GS can only attack with a few, and then kill them in his round so you are not stuck in open terain in his shooting phase. If you do not want to use a lott of hiveguards, then only take 1 pack of genestealers for the outflanking deployment threath, and use ygmars genstealers as they are very good. (Unles you are vs eldars and DE they will usualy be hugging the table edge vs tyranids, so you can predict where he will be standing.)

The Hypnosis power of Broodlords is pretty awesome. You can toss them into a unit and mesmerize any annoying ICs or powerfists with a decent chance of success.

It really shines when you start attacking single units like demon princes, as a success basically gives you a free round round of attacks.

In a small squad of stealers, a Brood Lord is great.

In a large squad, you don't need him as the unit will typically obliterate whatever they hit.

Old One Eye is cool, but not that great. Save him for casual play.

HIDING IN THE METAL BAWKSES!!

Brood Lord is nice when fighting GK, -1 LD and Shadow of the Warp can stop purifying flames and force weapons.

What if I used a ton of geanstealers? I was thinking I would run 4 units of geanstealers. x14 GS. x14 Gs. x15 GS w/toxin. x15 GS with toxin and broodlord.

Broodlords are cool... Old One Eye is just plain awful. I've run him 3 times because I had points to kill, and he just dies before he gets to do anything. I got him to wipe out a squad of Tac Marines once, but really, that's not that impressive. And he died from shooting the next turn. If he could come back to life then he'd be worth it, but as it is he is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overcosted.

I faced Old one eye in a friendly match yesterday, and with only 4 wounds, T6, and a 3+ save, he is way too easy to kill in one round.
When he dies in one round, you have paid a lot for an upgraded regeneration ability you never use.
