Which book features the parable about the men in the cave? where one runs off and sees the sun then tries to show the other men in the cave and they kill him. One of the Primarchs or the Emperor told the story, but I don't remember exactly who it was that told the story and which book it was in. Any help is appreciated.

I think that's the one where the emperor is speaking to the priest on the mountaintop in one of the short stories from "Tales of Heresy". It's about the last church on Terra. I can't remember the title.

All incorrect. It is from Thousand Sons

It is from the speech made by Magnus at the Trials of Nicea.

This.

Magnus stylizes himself as the sympathetic protagonist attempting to bring enlightenment to his society.

If I remember correctly, he even altered the story so that the one who brought the light succeeds.

The real story was the one who brought light was killed and forgotten by the rest.

Ah good point. I'm pretty sure you're right, as that does kinda jog my memory.

It's not one of those elements the HH writers have sneakily used as running themes across books, is it? I have read a passage about it at least once, but I couldn't say it's not in multiple books.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

I don't recall it being in any of the other books. Or at least not explicitly.

...and less facetiously, it's in Graham McNeill's A Thousand Sons.
