Subject: Skorne Tyrant Commander & Standard Bearer - Any good?

Still working on buying / building / painting 35 points of Skorne before I play a game ( ), but I keep going back and forth on the 'support' elements of my intended list. Right now it's a question of how to use 6 points: tyrant commander / standard + max beast handlers or Hakaar + min beast handlers (or two void spirits + min beast handlers, since I want to run Mordikaar). I know I want to run a load of nihilators, like 2x 10 of them, so I'll have units that need buffing and help standing up (hence the tyrant), but I also could be generating a lot of souls if Tough doesn't go my way, and I could use another slugger (hence Hakaar). Anyway, my question is, how is the commander / standard? Skorne players in batreps don't seem to use a very wide variety of units (...), but I'd never even heard of this unit before getting the book. Part of my concern too is that the tyrant and buddy is $20+ vs Hakaar's $10+ price tag - Salvage

If you're using Mordikaar and are planning on using two squads of Nihilators, then in his tier list, you get a free Void Spirit for every two squads of Nihilators or Swordsmen you include.
My personal opinion on what you should do though: Grab Hakaar and a min unit of Beast Handlers. Hakaar is amazing for 4 points and the Beast Handlers are in my opinion as important as a Gladiator in list composition.

Originally I was going tiered with three voids, but I went back to wanting to try out other things, and I've already got the handlers, which I know are legit. After posting the above I sorta decided to go double voids + min handlers, but I totally agree, Hak is the man, and a cheaper model option as well.
Still, I'm curious about that tyrant commander

malfred pointed me out that tiered lists are not all that common, depending on the area you're in, and I think it's good not to box yourself into that. Noone here really runs events that require tiers, and so people only take them usually later on if they've figured out a faction and want to try an interesting version of it.
That's all the input I have, though, as I don't know about Skorne

I'd say he's worth it, he can get people where they need to be. Need to move people around? have +2 speed. Guys in terrain slowing you down? have pathfinder. pKreoss just knock you down? GET THE FETH BACK UP! Scary things running amok? Auto-pass that.
On top of that he's as tough and strong as most heavy infantry.
That said, how many beast handlers you have in your list right now? Or just your army list in general.

I love the Tyrant commander he's well worth the 3 points for him. However your other options are not bad either. I would need to see the full list to give better advice as I don't know what else outside of lots of Nihilators.

I do dig the Tyrant Commander, but I run Xerxes a lot so it seems like having the Commander around is a bit redundant. It's also $30 for two models... a bit of a turn off if you're unsure of how well they will perform.
Tier lists, while some may be uncommon, others are just too good not to take. I personally feel that Mordikaar's tier is fantastic because it fits my play-style. I use Swordsmen and Nihilators in almost all of my lists. Fielding two min units of each with Mordi's tier give you two free Void Spirits, and those boys are nothing to sneer at. 4d6 on the charge against living models for damage? Solid. And two of 'em rushing at a caster/lock? There isn't much that's tolerating them.
Arkadias' tier is another seriously too good to be true tiers. 3 War Hogs for 15 points is just insane.
But tier tangent aside... Tyrant Commander is a solid support piece and Mordi gives ya Voids for free.

Give us your whole list to get better advice what would fit in there. But the Tyrant commander is worth it in some lists, he has nice buffs to units and is a decent beat stick on his own if needed.
