I was looking through the grey knights FAQ and found a part specifying what counts as a daemon most of these "daemons" did not actually have the daemon rule so I was wondering since we count these as daemons do they now have the daemon rule or not?

If they have the daemon rule listed under their special rules in their codex, then they do.
But if they do not have the daemon rule listed, then they do not.
The FaQ does not change this.

The better question is, why do you think it would matter if they had the rule or not? Do you think that the Avatar of Khaine can therefore deep strike? Or that Mandrakes get the 5+ invuln from being a Daemon? Whether or not they have that rule does not do anything unless they are from the Daemons codex.

I'm saying in the case of obliterators that do not have the daemon rule so therefore are vulnerable to instant death.

Right. Whether or not they had the daemon rule still would not make any difference. The Daemon rule is in the Chaos Daemons codex. It wouldn't do anything in any other codex, even if they could somehow have it.
The obliterators do not get the Daemon rule, and even if they did, it would do nothing.

It turns out you are right.
Personally i reckon gw made a mistake making the chaos marines and daemons separate codex's.
Thanks for the help though.

The purpose of the FAQ was to clarify what units the Grey Knight codex considers "daemons" for the purposes of its rules and wargear (Preferred Enemy: Daemons, Daemonbane, "wounds daemons on a 4+", etc).
The FAQ has nothing to do with the Chaos Daemons codex, or the rule called "Daemon."
