On Christmas I got a fair amount of Tyranid stuff from different sources and my own pocket, including a Hive Tyrant, Battleforce, Carnifex, Genestealers, Zoanthrope, and Gargoyles, all the standard amount. Soon after I also acquired a Trygon. I played for a while, did okay, then just went back to playing my Chaos.

Today I had an urge to play a new army, then I remembered my Tyranids that are chillin' out in their box. Unpainted, but primed. I want to play them, I'm just not sure what to do with them. As I was looking over the codex today I thought of a leadership bomb based army, but I've yet to make a list yet. I don't want you guys to make me a list, but what are the pros and cons of the army, just to prevent me from wasting any money and time?

Well the thing about nids is that you half to remember about the synaps. Big ordeal. Have been playing with nids for about a year and a half. About the trygon, Just a suggestion, It is going to become a bullet magnet if you deepstrick it. Also I have found that the prime upgrade really helps because you can deepstrick it with out worrying about synaps. Also you can spawn units in reserve from the hole the Trygon came through.

Carnifex is good no mater what.

Genstelers are just awsome.

gaunts are usfull

Warriors ar synaps creatures so the can head in their own direction if they want.

Hive tyrant will pack a punch!

Synapse is very easy to manage. Given their 12" range, having 3-4 synapse units in your line ensures pretty even coverage.

Anything more than that is just reinforcing that synapse base.

This almost never works, due to units needing to deep strike the turn after the Trygon (which cannot be guaranteed) and the ease of the opponent plugging the hole and destroying anything emerging.
