So, Im making a Lukas Bastonne proxy out of a steel legion sergeant. Since hollowing out the collar, making the plastic head fit, the general amount of filing and bleeding and other fun conversiony stuff that had to be done to him, I took to affectionately referring to my pet project as "Sergeant f***face."...and then I decided, "Wait, he's a grizzled battle hardened veteran. He should have a ****'ed up face! (censoring cause Im not sure of forum rules, by the way, so please dont ban me or anything X_X)...anyways. So, I decided to give him burns over about 50% of his face. I tried scorched brown base then scab red then a bestial brown drybrush followed by a khaki drybrush, and Im having difficulty painting anything that looks decent in turns (Edit: "terms" not "turns". Herp derp.) of someone that should have a mutilated face. Any paint combinations or particular technique anyone uses to simulate the effect?

It would be much simpler and easier to take a knife to him and carve up a few scars, which would be fairly easy to paint.

If you're dead-set on burns, though, I would go with a very thin layer of green stuff, paint the entire area your choice of darker red, followed by a skin-colored brown on the green stuff areas, and then drybrush on some dark flesh on top of that.

An entire society spanning thousands of light years worships a dead guy in a golden throne by killing alien races with genetically mutated supersoldiers dressed in bright blue and gold armor.

And they call religions today stupid.

Try adding a little red paint to you base flesh tone.
Also maybe do a google image search if your stomach is up to it.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

JR Martinez is on Dancing with the stars, he has burn scars from combat on his face. There it doesn't even have to be gruesome and you can watch Chastity Bono dance.
