Hi all.

Yesterday I stumbled on this post in the Blog area:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/385168.page

I'm very pleased to say that it has been particulary inspirational to me and, finally, gived me a nice chance to field 2 kind of armies I were considering from a little bit of time, both with a correspondant fluff.

I alwais loved the almost unknown XX Alpha Legion, in particular the double Primarch setup and the consequent differents combat doctrines.

So, honestly stealing the same STC_LogisEngine modelling inspiration, I was thinking at these 2 following 2000 pts lists. Both based on the BA codex.

The basic idea was to build up 2 very different lists guided by respectively Alpharius and Omegon.
Consequentely, each list will have to show out the 2 different combat doctrines, the first very close to the usual "Space Marines should alwais looks at something like this" common idea. Vehicles and a lot of dakka.

The second list, the one headed by Omegon, should instead show the hidden side of this Legion that behind the visible operations follows unknown and secret objectives (in this case simulated by the DoA kind of list, strike attacks, death from the above, etc etc).

I obviously was in need of two nice characters to be used as aka Primarchs. I choosed Mephiston as Alpharius and The Sanguinor as Omegon.

Now, I'm very sorry for this long introduction, let's talk about the lists:

HQ - Mephiston (ALPHARIUS). 250
HQ - Librarian - Unleash Rage & Shield of Sanguinius. 100
EL - Sanguinary Priest. 50
EL - Sanguinary Priest. 50
TR - 5x Assault Marines (no jp) - Meltagun - LAS/PLAS Razorback. 165 (<-- Mephiston)
TR - 5x Assault Marines (no jp) - Meltagun - LAS/PLAS Razorback. 165
TR - 5x Assault Marines (no jp) - Power Weapon - Flamer - LAS/PLAS Razorback. 175 (<-- Librarian)
TR - 5x Assault Marines (no jp) - Power Weapon - Flamer - LAS/PLAS Razorback. 175 (<-- Priest)
TR - 5x Assault Marines (no jp) - Power Weapon - Flamer - LAS/PLAS Razorback. 175 (<-- Priest)
FA - Baal Predator - TL Assault Cannon - Sponson Heavy Bolters. 145
FA - Baal Predator - TL Assault Cannon - Sponson Heavy Bolters. 145
HV - Predator - Autocannon - Sponson Lascannons. 135
HV - Predator - Autocannon - Sponson Lascannons. 135
HV - Predator - Autocannon - Sponson Lascannons. 135
Tot. 2000

HQ - The Sanguinor (OMEGON). 275
.....- Honor Guard w/ Champion - 2x Meltagun/SS - PF/SS - Sanguinary Novitiate - Jump Packs. 290
HQ - Librarian - Unleash Rage & Shield Of Sanguinius - Jump Pack. 125
EL - Sanguinary Priest - Jump Pack. 75
EL - Sanguinary Priest - Jump Pack. 75
TR - 10x Assault Marines - LC/LC - 2x Flamers. 230 (<-- Librarian, this Serg. is the 1 that will be boosted by Sanguinor's bonuses)
TR - 10x Assault Marines - PW/Plasma Pistol - 2x Flamers. 230 (<-- Priest)
TR - 10x Assault Marines - PW/Hand Flamer/Combat Shield - 2x Flamers. 230 (<-- Priest)
TR - 10x Assault Marines - PF - 2x Meltaguns. 235
TR - 10x Assault Marines - PF - 2x Meltaguns. 235
Tot. 2000

On paper, I'm quitely satisfied by the 2 lists, even if with a lot of little points here and there used just to follow the theme and not exactly "competitive wise".
The only thing that I regret is in the first list. I would really like to have an Honor guard for Mephiston/Alpharius too. Of course something that fluff wise will look nice but that points wise will sound orrrible.

Any C/C really appreciated and again sry for all that words

Last thing I forgot to mention, in my local gamers club we usually play Apocalypse games at 4000+ pts per side. I hope you will see the little sinergy I tryed to grant between the 2 lists if used together.
I'm considering to build up 2000 pts of extra models for 6000 pts. Some Super Heavy Apo puppet in example but for the moment is more important to have a couple of fluffy but still effective lists.

Very last thing, for every one that would probably ask for it, yes. This would be a pre/during heresy army.

Just a few things:

You can't pick which sergeant gets boosted by the Sanguinor. It's randomly determined.

DoA lists without Vanguard Veterans usually struggle.

Mmmm good catch on the randomized Serg., it doesn't really matter luckly.

By the way I don't see how one or 2 teams ov Vanguards on DoA setups could so positively change the lists.
Not mine in particular but more in general every DoA list.

Honestly.

May you tell me more?

If you're considering the Deep Strike+immediate assault chances well.. I don't think it can be considered a very reliable tactics. Only with a serious investment on the Vanguards with 2/3 PW they will be actually effective but this will push them really up in price.

I would even say too much pricy, don't you?

It's more of them locking something into combat on the turn they drop so they can't shoot, and assaulting the bubble wrap which surrounds the real enemy army.
If your guys have to drop, get shot at, assault and wipe kroot/gaunts, then get shot at and counterassaulted, it takes a huge advantage away from dropping in. VV help this because they will come down and assault devs/lootas/whatver or assault the bubble wrap so that next turn the rest of your droppers can get right to the killing.
