I'm loving the lances for knightlynorders, and I really like the idea of a little bunchy unit of knights taking care of flankers on my gunline.
Since they're not dealing with powerful opponents, I want to deploy them with lances. Is this a waste of my points.

Only use them in combats you can win in one round of combat, or against enemies that Str3 in additional rounds isn't going to penalize you(T4 or well armored foes)

I think GW is still gonna be more useful overall, you are only I3, most people go before you anyway. GW ensures you will be hitting at +2S every round.

Ok, Knights arn't ideal for dealing with those things.

I'm using* extra greatsword arms (and heads). Yes, I got the idea from here http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/blogPost.jsp?aId=17400040a.
*by using, I mean I've converted one this way, so far.

Just remember with a great wepaon you will not be getting a shield bonus to armour (but will still be 2+AS)
I agree with Grey Templar, you really should be charging in against stuff you will smash in 1 turn.

Knight's of the White Wolf hammer counts as GW according to the army book.
Failing that, you can find some Greatsword weapon arms online.
