Looks good enough. What armies do you think you will be facing on the tournament?

MEQ of all kinds, maybe some DE or IG, other than that I have no idea.

List seems fine, the only problem you'll be facing are units in cover, hopefully the sheer amount of guns can force your opponent to fail his saves.

give all the chimera's HHF and remove the sentinels for a hydra, it would work better at all

don't think, you have to know it if you want to be a commander
2010-> IG losses:5, draws: 1, wins: a really lot of wins
2011 IG losses: 2, draws: 1 wins: 32
2012 losses: 8, draws: 0 wins: 15

That is what they have, I usually assume that's what most Chimeras are armed with.
I likely wont have a hydra ready by Sunday, unless I can figure out some way to quickly convert one.

Nice list ! Might try it out myself
And you are probably right, people wont expect that much armor in such a small game.
Also, you have great maneuverability, which will pay off in all objective battles.
The chimera flamers will deal with hordes and you have more then enough melta and las to take on opposing armor and heavy troops.
The only down side is the small numbers, but at least there vets

Keep in mind forum rules for posting points. Pretty much, the Chimeras are part of the unit's cost, so add them together.

Standard Chimera is Turret Multi-Laser and hull heavy bolter, so no, don't assume we are assuming your running them that way.

Your list looks fine, but your weakness is 3 troops. A smart player will pop your three Chimeras first and keep you from winning by having no troops. Make sure you keep your vets behind your LRBTs and your CCS and hope they get cover saves from the screening vehicles for any shots on them. Force them to deal with your LRBTs first. Remember you will have to leave one behind to camp a home objective.

Good luck!

Been playing 40k on and off since 89.
Armies...
Orks, Eldar, Lamentors, Pre-Heresy EC, CSM EC, and IG.

Poping the Chimera does not instan-kill the guys inside, at this point level is somewhat difficult for me to have more than 3 troop choices

No, but an explosion result will. So every Pen shot is a chance your squad will be taken out. And the guys that do survive the explosion will probably run from the resulting morale check.

And don't give me that... your troops cost 155pts and your LRBTs are 150pts. You can have more troops if you want to. You /choose/ to have 3 troops. I am just making it crystal clear to you on how vulnerable your list is, specially if you have to hold back a troop to hold a rear objective. Note I did not say get rid of anything and I infact gave you advice on how to help keep those few troops alive longer. But do not be shocked if your desire to have Vendettas and LRBTs at this point level end up being your down fall. Those are the risks, accept them or not.

You cant win with just chimeras... LRBT and Vendettas are needed for their long range weapons. Plus they are usually priority targets, which actually increase the odds of Chimeras surviving.
I've never have an explosion result take out a whole squad, PCS can also rally with an order regardless of anything.
Most Mech armies are fragile in nature, if I want a list that is actually resilient I would have taken a foot guard army.

Well, I took 1st.
1st battle turns out to be pitch battle and victory points against Grey Templar's GK. Long story short I spend the whole game blasting his stuff away and got a massacre.

2nd was a Spearhead KP mission against Orks, this was actually a tough one because my opponent rolls a rather ridiculous amount of cover saves, but I shot away the lootas early and bait the tankbustas away from my parking lot. He kill some vets and a chimera on his Waagh! turn. We ended on turn 5 with me getting a minor victory.

3rd game, well, my opponent had to leave because of something... I take what I get I guess.
