Quick question:

I'm a Tau player. Let's say I have a Broadside unit with 1 teamleader, 1 regular broadside and 2 shield drones. So there are basically 3 distinct "types" of models in the unit when it comes to would allocation: teamleader, regular broadside and shield drone.

They get shot at and take 4 total wounds.

Would I be able to allocate the following?

1 wound on teamleader
1 wound on regular broadside
2 wounds on shield drones

Or..

do I have to do the following?

1 wound on teamleader
2 wounds on regular broadside (to follow main rulebook rule where you have to allocate wounds to fill up multiwound characters?)
1 wound on shield drones

I'm thinking its option A where I can put the extra wound on the shield drones, but I wanted to be sure... You Make Da' Call!

You have to do the first, and actually cannot do the second. Each model must roll a save if possible. Just remember that you roll the shield drone wounds together.

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

You do not "fill up" wounds on multiwound models - you fill up UNSAVED wounds, i.e. after you make saves and AFTER you have allocated evenly, one wound to every model in the unit.
