Apart from, "The Most Important Rule," this is true.

They could count as. But then you would wanna make sure they were all spruced up with Tau nonsense. Just throwing units into other Armies leads to all sorts of balance issues, rules that just make no sense.

Best not to go down that road.

But, if you dont have a problem with it, and y'all have fun, well, have fun. But dont ask somebody to play and start setting up Broadsides, Korne Beserkers, and Draigo. You're gonna get some funny looks.

For the record you have a battle with your codex and models selected from it. However you may use any models in an Apocalypse game but such battle are normally designed by both sides to be epic.

In a tournament game or a game where your following, what we like to call "the rules", no he can not do that.

However, in a friendly game, or a campaign game, assuming he has your permission, he can do whatever you will allow. If you want to allow him to put Mandrakes or Guardsmen in his army sure go ahead.

If his opponents are all okay with it, then go for it. I think it's dumb though, and mixing codices is illegal outside of Apocalypse games, where anything goes.

There is one rule more important, In the Grim Future of 40,000, there is only War. RAW, Tau cannot ally with anyone (including Kroot/Vespid) RAI, they can use Kroot/Vespid (except for farsight), since they are in the codex.

SRS mode, Activate!

There was an old Chapter Approved rule where Tau could take Guardsmen in squads of like 12-20 for 7 points each or something to the tune of that. If he could find that document online somewhere and cleared it with me ahead of time (not just drop a bunch of guard on a table and say "I play tau and I'mma use Guard too. Deal with it". Not saying your friend does, but there are people like that.) I wouldn't have a problem with it.

as stated agianst the rules if he intends to use them as they are, perfectly fine if he trows tau weapons on em and uses em as atau unit in the codex...

stipulation for apoc but i don't think that is what hOP is talking about

if eh really wants to go with that house rule though play mix and match and see who can make the most op combos of units from codexes... that'd be interesting

There was a Chapter Approved that let you take a single squad of 6-12 Guardsmen for 6 points/model as a Troops choice. The sergeant could be given a Pulse weapon, and Imperial armies had Preferred Enemy against the squad.

I hoped this would be a thread about Crisis Suits linking together Voltron-style. I am disappoint.

And I want Land Raiders for my Genestealers and my Tervigon spawning 2d6 Carnifexes each round. But respecting game balance can be tough.

There have been instances of human mercenaries being hired by Tau (Last Chancers), but Dark Eldar? No.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

You are forgetting that in Apoc you're allowed to take 20 draigo/mephiston/ghaskgul/etc and it's legal right?

Now, 30 man DC with Lemartes, all jump packs and all dual-wielding thunderhammers, THERE'S an idea worth paying apoc for.
