I read through the CSM codex, and read the part about obliterators and it mostly said what they are, not much about what an obliterator cult is....

so, what is an obliterator cult exactly?

what do they do?

why do they do it?

do any obliterators warship a particular god?

Obliterators are generally technology obsessed and sometimes worship it as a result of having a Daemonic Corrupted Machine Spirit messin' stuff up inside them. So I suppose Obliterator Cults might just worship machinery or the Machine God/Omnissah. Or they could just worship Chaos in general, seeing as they're Chaos corrupted. Or they could worship all three.

Ahhh, so they just warship the machine god/chaos in general.

Would it be unfluffy for me to paint them slaanesh themed?

I'm using some for my slaanesh army and I like my armies to be nice and fluffy!

Lexicanum isn't the most valid source of information Coolyo...

I would assume the people of dakka would have better answers.

or I would have checked lexicanum in the first place.

It stems from the Obliterator virus which was,I believe, created by the Iron warriors as we see Storm of Iron a sorcerer corrupting a techpriest and turning him into a Obliterator by infecting him with the virus. Such creations are part daemon, machine, man, and possibly warp with a motive all their own and extremely powerful augmentations

In the codex, they do.

They could be Slaanesh themed if you want, since the Emperor's Children did have techmarines.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

It'd have to be mostly the original colours (purple and gold) rather than the new colours I think though. Obliterators don't worship a single god as such, so even if these ones fell into Slaanesh worship with their legion, it wouldn't have been for very long.

Dunno. I was told once that not all Obliterators have TDA, because not all techmarines (come to think of it i can't name even one..) have TDA. So you might meet an obliterator who "joined" with PA, but didn't have the opportunity to build his own TDA yet (is a self-build TDA considered "Artificer Armor"? Is Artificer Armor limited to loyalists? If so, what is the chaos counterpart?)

I thought they have Terminator class armor because of all the metal bits inside them making them almost invulnerable? Also, if I remember correctly tech marines use artificer armor anyway, which they normally make themselves. So given that Obliterators are supposed to have once been technicians / tech priests it is not too far a stretch to think they just corrupted their own artificer armor. I also remember reading at one point that part of their mutation is that it makes their skin all armored and hard, probably because of the part demon thing.

Who they worship, well, I would be inclined to think they worship technology. Not the same way the Mechanicus do, as the machine spirit is supposed to be a part of the emperor (from a dogma point of view) So it would be a chaos corrupted technology worship, kind of like soul grinders and the demon forge.

Being a good bad guy is like being a photographer, you have to wait for the right moment.

Not true bombboy, yes Lexicanum had its troubles, but now it is rather highly regarded due to the heavy moderating that has gone into making it a valid source of information...

There are still the odd few wobbles here and there, but pretty much everything has to referenced now and its a lot harder to get these past the mods.

Really? All I hear around the forums are people saying how bad lexicanum is for a source...

When? Who? In relation to what? (also, when were these comments posted because ive seen them as well, and they are mostly from years ago

tbh, the WH40k Wiki is much worse for fanon etc. (theres even a disclaimer on Lexicanum now that says any sort of non-official material will be removed without prejudice - or something to that effect)

Lexicanum is the most reliable source of canon info of any of the warhammer wikis as they use proper sourcing. You can see what their source for information is and then decide if you like the source.

As GT said, they Lexicanum is easily the most reliable source of canon () on the internet.

Its all about the references/source....

Fair enough. If you do find them, have a look at the date, they may be the same (old) comments i saw a while back. (not saying they are, but i had a 'what the feth?!' moment the first time i saw commets (and examples) of how Lexicanum isnt reliable.

The obliterators are infected with a techno-virus and are more machine than man.

Machines can't really feel sensations in the way the Emporer's children are described. But they are said to sell their services in exchange for acheotech.
